Gitty was a real slave, a real person and the story happened in the Mohawk Valley in New York State. In March 1774, she said she was awakened at night and told to put live coals on the master's barn floor. The barn subsequently burned, she was tried and burned at the stake.

Rufus Grider left a wonderful record of buildings which were no longer standing, except in the minds of older folks who remembered. Carefully, he drew the details of the descriptions and recorded them. In his drawings, you can see the development of the images, sometimes he drew one over and over, but with improvements. As you might guess, he was an art teacher at Canajoharie. Thank you Rufus Grider for the legacy you left us!

This is simply the author's way to lose weight and keep it off. Losing weight is something many people struggle with each day. We have a mentality which urges us to eat a lot to store up for the hard times, but what we have available are plenty of fast foods which are not good for us. This combined with machines to do much of our work, causes a disastruous result in us humans.

  • - All About The Palatines

There has been a great deal of information and misinformation about the Palatines and why they came to America. It is a complicated story but one that begs to be told, and it will be told in story form which will make it a more personal sort of story. After all, history involves real people, and we often lose sight of this fact. Opie's story begins with her early life and it is about a little girl who simply refused to give up and let her life happen. She became a servant for the Reverend Kocherthal, the parson who invented the legend of Carolina and then led his tribe into the wilderness to fulfill his dream. Nothing is as it seems, not in regards to Carolina at least. The stage is set for the eventful trip and terrible trials of this incredible adventure.

Often old photos simply get tossed out. Even if they are not, the identity of the photos is often lost. This book contains the archive photos of the St. Johnsville Fire Department.

This book is all about old photographs of days long gone. Even though those times are gone, the memories remain with us. Many people contributed to this collection, and for that, I am thankful. The history of St. Johnsville belongs to all of us, not just a few people. Look, remember, and enjoy your memories of St. Johnsville. The image on the front cover is a Rufus Grider print of Fort Klock.

Opie's little secure life is changing. The parson and family are leaving for America. The poster and the booklet Reverend Joshua Kocherthal wrote about Carolina inflamed the public and before long the idea stirred up thousands of people. Carolina means land, lots of land. Why all they had to do was float to The Netherlands, and the dear Queen of England would pick them up and right off send them to America. How could they go wrong. It was a change to see that their families would have a good living in the future as well. Opie was ready to travel alone but then a few marriage proposals were presented to her. One from a wealthy man and one from a poor man. Nothing is as it seems, not in regards to Carolina at least. The stage is set for the eventful trip and terrible trials of this incredible adventure.

Our time traveler Hope, and her husband Jost, have adopted an adorable little boy. He was one of the throw away children, a boy who had no parents or home. Would he be able to adjust and be a normal little boy? A family member had done some terrible things to John, Hope and Jost had to do something. Truly he was a boy bought for a king's ransom. This is part six in the continuing story of Hope, the 21st century time traveler who enjoys seeing history first hand. Hope and her family continued to vacation anywhere in time they pleased and had some interesting adventures. On a lark, she and Neik made plans to take a wagon train to the west, just for an adventure. It sounded like it would be a great family vacation, but it certainly wasn't in Hope's plans to encounter hostile Indians. Real bullets made her realize she made a foolish mistake. What was happening to their farm, the cheese factory, and the community? They kept visiting the Spook Hollow site over and over, and viewed progress from the 21st century. The time slip kept calling to Hope; the beings were trying to pull Hope into the time slip, in effect ending her physical life. Hope meant to raise her son, not disappear for good. She dared not relax; she had to keep fighting to stay in her life with her husband and family in the 19th century.
