Wouldn't it be cool to suddenly have the battle skills of a seasoned warrior? Wouldn't that be even better if the battles felt real but there was no physical risk to you? Wouldn't it be perfect if the hypnotist in charge of your session was not insanely evil and using you as a weapon in a plot for revenge? Four friends, two in love, two in hate enter into a Group Hypnosis study attempting to introduce fantasy adventures to small groups. They are promised a video game type of adventure rescuing an Elf Queen from her crystal prision as elf warriors, a sorceress and a fairy. As soon as they fall under the good doctors spell they begin to realize the adventure is more real than they could have ever imagined. They find themselves in a hostile world they can't seem to escape from. When Nicole Waters' boyfriend Tom becomes ill the prominent St Louis Assistant DA is forced to take Tom's best friend Jack Tyler, a local travel agent on a business vacation. Certain she's discovered the next hot trend in adventure vacations Nicole takes Jack and two others; Sarah Sims, a shy nurse practioner and Todd Hopper, a professional hockey player into a test program for group hypnosis. They travel to a small town in the middle of Kansas to meet Dr. Strong, the psychologist researching group hypnosis at his clinic . Undaunted by the fact that the so called clinic is housed in an ancient looking run down hotel and Dr. Strong's creepy assistants the group is eager to get started with their 'adventure'. Dr. Strong introduces the soon to be adventurers to an equipment filled gym explaining, "The wall of netting might become a series of vines or perhaps the side of a rock cliff. The weight machine will serve as stimulus if you are required to lift or push a heavy object. The stair climber will act as a tree, fortress wall or perhaps a rock incline you must scale." He then offers Nicole and her friends a mild sedative to aid in their simultaneous entry into hypnosis. Yet instead of experiencing an action packed fantasy adventure akin to a video game quest; they find themselves trapped in a deadly world of elves and monsters that is more real than they could ever imagine; where a cry for help goes unanswered.

New SciFi Series from Alaina Stanford! A beautiful mountain setting, an international conflict AND a psychotic Serial Killer bent on revenge! Book 1 of the Treborel Series Lysette is taken prisoner by Katar's nemesis Commander Connor, a murderous psychopath bent on destroying Katar. The race begins to save Lysette as Katar's search of the war torn continent leads deep into the savage wilderness of the Treborelan Mountains. Five Star Reviews! Ms. Stanford continues to surprise me with her creative story telling. She pulls you into a riveting plot that barely gives you time to catch your breath. Action, suspense, murder and romance are my favorite combination and the author nails this challenging mix to the wall and leaves you coming back for more. This was a great book from Stanford but it was SciFi this time and much longer than any of her other books, which was great! She is really starting to spread her wings into different types of stories but with the same strong characters and solid plot lines. If you liked her other books, you'll love this one! I know the stress and struggle to find the right voice to go with the genre I'm working in, which is why it always amazes me when an author moves into a new genre and not only pulls it off, but makes it look seamless and easy, which is exactly what Alaina Stanford has done in this book! She's stepped into SciFi with this story, building a whole new world of laser cannons and global war. The action is both similar to her previous works in some parts but in others its way different, which makes for an exciting read in general but opens up a new type of combat by this author. It was great to see her put on a new hat and that she looked good wearing it. Romance is here as well, which isn't my cup of tea, but it moves the story forward and also helps build tension, so not only was it essential in the drive of the plot, it made it bearable for the non romance reader. Overall, this was a great read for both Stanford's existing writer base and newbies who enjoy scifi. Katar and Lysette are the lovebirds in this book and their story is told perfectly well, as they are believable and not corny. There are some errors in the book, but I do not feel that spoils the read at all. Overall, I enjoyed the book as it didn't drag and it took me only two days to read. If you like romance, you're bound to like this.
