Andy Gaus is the author of The Unvarnished New Testament, a complete translation from the Greek, and the translator of Wilhelm Busch's classic children's book, Max and Moritz. A composer and lyricist as well as a poet and translator, Gaus has written songs and scores for revues, musicals and operas produced in Boston, where he makes his home. This volume collects Gaus's lifetime poetry output, with verse translations from Rilke, Verlaine, Baudelaire, and Aeschylus, as well as his own poems. The selections range from rhymed stanzas to blank verse and free verse, marked by a distinctive lyricism and musicality throughout.
Full piano-vocal arrangements of some 50 songs spanning seven decades of songwriting.
