Black Lives Matter! Really? Not through the eyes of the badge. Butter Pecan is a fictional story I wrote after reading about the death of a beautiful young black woman. While embarking upon a new journey in a new city, she was pulled over by Texas law enforcement. Sadly, she was arrested and would later be found dead in her Texas jail cell. Her tragic death made headline news. I watched as the media gave me a glimpse into this young ladies life. A tiny little bit. Just enough to make me curious about who she really was and then poof! She was gone. Another African American murdered by the Police had taken her place. That's what prompted me to write Butter Pecan. Instead of a snippet, I want to give you the story of a life lived. The story of someone who, like her, was loved. A person who mattered. A father, son and husband. Welcome to the world of Sincere Fleming. A man born BLACK!
Joseph doesn't trust anybody-especially not preachers. He sees them as his fellow coworkers. The only difference - preachers pimp souls; Joseph pimps women. With a deep-rooted loathing for his mother, it's no wonder he's a hardened pimp who is quick with a back hand or belt. But he is vulnerable - Sophia knows that. She also knows that he loves her; he just has a psychotic way of showing it. As Sophia's faith grows, so does Josephs disdain for it. He beats her for praying and for bringing Christians into his home and dares her to try and take one of their kids to worship. He absolutely detest anything related to religion; but when situations arise where faith is needed, will he embrace it to make it through? Or will he continue on his journey in the abyss of darkness with vengeance reigning on the throne of his heart?
Joanna has learned the hard way not to entertain the devil but she's also learned how to have a personal relationship with God. She's begun a new chapter in her life as a college student, but Satan is fast on her heels and has enrolled as well. Will the forces of darkness lead her further away from Christ and crumble the newfound foundation she's learned to stand on? Or will her newly acquired faith be able to help her have victory over the valley of the shadow of death? They call him Ruthless Rufus and it's a name that has been well earned. He stops at nothing to get what he wants and that includes Joanna. She is what drives him to display an evil that is so vile that it will haunt Joanna for the rest of her days, but Rufus doesn't care, all he wants is Joanna, and he'll use any vice, including death, to get her. Faith isn't as innocent as she portrays herself to be. Unforeseen circumstances will lead her into a web of deceit and lies but none of them will be her doing. Although that's the case, she will be vital in a triangle of love, pain and death, but everything isn't as it seems. Her heart too will be broken as she is thrust into the midst of a horrific family tragedy.
