"Hello Ann! I am a huge fan of your work with essential oils. I am the mother of 3 children, ages 9 months, 3 years, and 5 years. My two oldest children have sensitive skin and allergic reactions to common household cleaners. Do you have any suggestions on how I can make my own, perhaps with essential oils?" I get questions like this from my readers all the time. Truth be told, I don't too many people who don't have some type of reaction to household cleaners. They are chemical heavy concoctions with strong industrial odors that really don't belong in the house at all. Fortunately, there are several DIY methods of making your own Green Cleaners using essential oils, which is what I have compiled in this book. These are very simple recipes that should provide the chemical free conditions you and your family deserve. To Your Happiness & Wellness, Ann Sullivan
"Hello Ann, I have several of your essential oil books, and I am a huge fan of the DIY recipe sections. I recently discovered that my teenage son and daughter are both beginning to suffer from dandruff. I started looking through my books for an effective essential oil recipe and didn't find one. What would you recommend?" Quite a few people suffer from dandruff, it is a very common scalp condition, and isn't anything to be too concerned about if caught and treated early enough. If left untreated, dandruff can become a bigger problem, often causing temporary hair loss, as a result of intense itching and inflammation in the affected area. There are several OTC hair care products that advertise being effective against dandruff; however, more people are now beginning to search for natural DIY recipes that will allow them to make chemical free solutions to the troubles that ail them. When it comes to dandruff, I always recommend using a DIY shampoo rich in Melaleuca; also known as Tea Tree, Melaleuca is an effective ingredient in any DIY dandruff control shampoo! Almost everyone is familiar with no bake cookies, and if you're not, then you soon will be. No bake cookies are some of my favorite cookies to make. Aside from mixing a few ingredients, there's really nothing to making these tasty little treats. You can form them, place them on a sheet, set them on the counter, and wait for them to firm up...all without ever turning the oven on. The no bake cookie recipes in this book are so easy to assemble you can let your kids do it. They might not be able to mix the ingredients thoroughly enough by themselves, but once that task has been accomplished you can turn them loose. As a matter of fact, these recipes represent some of the best ways to get kids into the kitchen. This will help you prepare them for life after moving out on their own. Readers are sure to find more than a few no bake cookie recipes within these pages that end up becoming family favorites. Please let me know which ones you enjoy the most, and drop me a line if you have a suggestion/recommendation for a future recipe book. Bon Appetit, Ann Sullivan
"Dear Ann, I am a bit embarrassed to admit that my husband has low sex drive, which stems from erectile dysfunction. He is vehemently opposed to pharmaceuticals, so the brand name products and pills are out of the question. Do you have any suggestions that might help?" While I cannot guarantee results for my clients, readers, and customers, as each of us experiences a different result from the use of essential oils, I would recommend grabbing a bottle of Cinnamon essential oil. Studies have shown that the use of Cinnamon essential oil is an effective method of stimulating libido. I would recommend trying both aromatic therapy, as well as internal therapy. Cinnamon essential oil is considered safe for human consumption, in moderation. Conduct a little research for specific DIY recipes designed to stimulate libido, and give your husband the best gift he could ask for, a natural supplement that might just solve his condition. "I have been looking high and low for a recipe book on Indian cuisine. My daughter's boyfriend is from India and she is bringing him home for the first time this coming fall. I would very much like to impress him with a few dishes he might be familiar with. Do you have anything that could help me?" It just so happens I have an enormous recipe book that focuses on Indian Curry recipes. While this doesn't actually cover all varieties of Indian cuisine, there should be more than a few dishes he will be familiar with. We sample international cuisine occasionally, and although my husband isn't able to handle the spices associated with Indian cuisine, my daughters and I enjoy several different curry dishes. Coconut Curry Fish, Spicy Indian Chicken and Mango Curry, Curried Chicken Salad, and Chicken Curry with Pineapple are a few of our favorites. Bear in mind, if you are not familiar with Indian cuisine, and the various spices called for in many of these dishes, you may want to adjust measurements to suit your taste. Some of these dishes can be rather spicy, especially for those who have a delicate palate. Bon Appetit, Ann Sullivan

I have never tried alternative remedies before, which essential oil would you recommend getting started with?" "Ann, I suffer periodically from bouts with rheumatism and arthritis. Sometimes the pain and inflammation are too much to bear. Is there an essential oil I can use to relieve some of these symptoms?" Rheumatism and arthritis are problematic issues for many of our senior citizens. Normal OTC (Over The Counter) medications for rheumatism and arthritis can be costly, especially for those who suffer frequent episodes of joint pain and inflammation. One of the essential oils I often recommend to those looking for alternative herbal assistance, is Cassia. Cassia is defined as a "hot," or "warm" oil. It is a member of the cinnamon family and has a long history of being used to improve blood circulation, fight depression, and relieve joint pain and inflammation. Pressure Cooker Recipes "Hello Ann, when I was just a young girl, my grandmother used to make some of the most amazing dishes out of her pressure cooker. They lived outside of town on a farm during those early days of my youth, when she passed away her recipes got scattered to the wind. I was wondering if you might have recipes for meals that can be prepared in a pressure cooker." I remember a handful of meals my own grandmother would prepare in the pressure cooker. She lived out in the rural countryside as well, and Sunday dinners were often held at her place. As I grew older and time passed on, many of those pressure cooker recipes were replaced with more modern dishes designed to be easier and quicker to make. I have spent more than one weekend scouring the virtual countryside looking for pressure cooker recipes. Thankfully, I was able to rustle up a few of them from a couple of my favorite church members. Several of these older ladies have managed to keep their hands on these valuable recipes and were more than willing to share. Since compiling these recipes I have had several opportunities to try them out. The Thai Cabin Vegetable Soup, Spareribs Sauerkraut and Potatoes, as well as the Scottish dish called Steak Pie, were instant hits at our house. Cooking with a pressure cooker takes a bit of practice, especially if you have never used one before, in which case I suggest doing a little research on cooking channel websites or YouTube before getting started with these. "Dear Ann, I am a big fan of your Essential Oil books. My doctor has recently indicated that my cholesterol levels are high, which has led to increased amounts of stress trying to deal with that. This, in turn, has also resulted in a spike in blood pressure, all of which are not healthy for me. Is there an essential oil that you would recommend for these conditions?" Cholesterol can be good or bad; high levels of bad cholesterol are unhealthy for a several reasons. High levels of bad cholesterol can also lead to high blood pressure, or hypertension, which is not a healthy condition for your body to endure, and stress has never done anything good for anybody. Fortunately, one of my all-time favorite essential oils to use for all three of these conditions is Lemongrass. This particular essential oil has the inherent ability to help alleviate many of the symptoms associated with high levels of cholesterol, stress, hypertension, as well as pain relief for aches, pains, and sore muscles. Lemongrass is also a very good essential oil to use as a focus enhancer. If you find yourself distracted from all of the stressful events of your day, a few small drops of Lemongrass placed just below the nasal passages will assist you with managing the stress and staying on topic until the task is done. I have no doubt consumers will appreciate Lemongrass as much as I do. To Your Happiness & Wellness, Ann Sullivan

"Dear Ann, I recently purchased 101 Orange Chicken Recipes. I have tried several of those recipes and my family absolutely loves them. I cannot wait to see what you will come up with next. Fall is just around the corner, what do you have in store for the holiday season?" I absolutely adore this time of year. Fall is so full of color in our quiet little corner of the world. As a matter of fact, apples and pork chops complement each other nicely in several dishes laid out in the pages of this latest appetizing effort. My family has raised pigs on the farm for several decades, so pork chops were always on the menu. Some of the recipes included in this book have been handed down through the family for generations, others I found flavorful enough to request the recipe for. A couple of my personal baked pork chop favorites are included in this recipe book; Gorgonzola and Apple Pork Chops, Octoberfest Beer Chops, Cola and Onion Sauce Pork Chops, and Pork Chops with Apple Glaze, just to name a few. I have no doubt you will enjoy and appreciate several of these mouthwatering pork chop recipes. Bon Apetit Ann Sullivan
"Hello Ann! I've purchased several of your previous recipe books and I've always been fascinated with the varieties you are able to come up with. I have searched high and low for a cookbook that focuses on hamburger, as that serves as a staple here on the homestead. We raise beef cattle, and it would be nice to spice up some old dishes and try a few new!" Hamburger is a staple here at the Sullivan household as well. My grandparents both raised beef cattle, that's how my folks originally met, so we had plenty of hamburger growing up, and we still have half a freezer full of packaged hamburger any day of the year. It took me a little while to compile the recipes in this book. Being a hamburger fan, I felt it necessary to try each of these recipes before giving them space on these pages. The recipes you find here will definitely spice up some older dishes, and entice you to sample a few new platters I have put together. I hope you enjoy! Bon Appetit, Ann Sullivan
Myrrh, or Commiphora myrrha, has been used for thousands of years by the Ancient Egyptians and by the Arabians, primarily to support skin conditions. Myrrh is also full of sesquiterpenes, which aid the pituitary, hypothalamus and amygdala, all of which deeply affects emotions. This results in an uplifting and restorative sense of being. With such estimable properties, it's no wonder that myrrh was gifted to the baby Jesus, alongside gold and frankincense. Mentioned over 150 times in the Bible, myrrh has been valued for thousands of years, even making an appearance in the ancient Egyptian medical text, Ebers Papyrus, which includes 700 therapeutic remedies from 1550 BC. "When I was younger, I remember my grandmother used to make this mouthwatering concoction for dinner almost every Sunday night. She used ground meat, usually beef, but sometimes it was chicken or pork, and a brown gravy, then vegetables and mashed potatoes all combined in one large baking dish. I can't remember what it was called, but I've been looking for it for years...can you help?" It sounds to me like you're talking about Shepherd's Pie, and if that's the case, then I have just the recipe book for you. My grandmother made Shepherd's Pie quite often too, and I was fortunate enough to jot down as many as I could from her handwritten recipe rolodex. The rest I gathered over the years from others across the country. If you appreciate being able to feed a large number of people cost effectively, then Shepherd's Pie is the way to go. These recipes are very easy to prepare and are usually a favorite of the entire family. A few of my favorite recipes in this book are the Scottish Shepherd's Pie, Lazy Day Shepherd's Pie, Cottage Pie, Shepherd's Pie Deluxe, and Campout Style Shepherd's Pie, just to name a few. Let me know which are your favorites, I always enjoy hearing from my readers. Bon Appetit, Ann Sullivan
"I live with my family on the Great Lakes. As a matter of fact, my husband has been working the fishing vessels of Lake Superior since he was a little boy. Needless to say, we eat a ton of fish each year. While I don't mind having a fish rich diet, I sure would like to prepare meals a little differently, what have you got that can help?" One of my favorite recipe books deals with preparing fish using a variety of different methods. We eat a lot of fish here on the farm as well, but not nearly as much as I imagine this writer putting away over the course of a year. However, I can relate, as we consume a chicken heavy diet regimen for the same reason; that is our primary source of regional sustenance. There are several ways to make a fish meal. Fish can be fried, baked, broiled, and even grilled if done properly. Within each of those cooking methods are a vast treasure trove of fish recipes that should spic up meal times around the house. I think readers will find more than a few of these recipe ideas to be appetizing and appealing. Take the time to try a few new ideas and expand your culinary skills at the same time. Bon Appetit, Ann Sullivan
"I just enrolled with my daughter to try out these essential oil products. As part of my enrollment gift I was given a small bottle of Fennel essential oil. I don't want to look like I'm out of the loop by asking my daughter questions, so could you give me some advice on what this can be used for?" First things first, if one of your family members or friends are involved with essential oils, then they should be the first person you ask questions of; they are your first line of support. It not only helps you, but it also helps them become more familiar with the products they are selling. Fennel essential oil has many uses. One of my favorite uses for this oil is in baking. A single drop of fennel can add an invigorating new taste to the item being made. Fennel is sweet, which is why it works well in baking. It can also be used to support a healthy digestive tract as well, and has been known to work wonders with the upper respiratory system. Fennel is also a natural gas reliever and will assist with alleviating symptoms associated with cramping and constipation. This is an essential oil that can be used for a number of things, which makes it one of top essential oils on my list. To Your Wellness & Happiness, Ann Sullivan
"I have a fetish for bread pudding. Any time we go out to eat at one of the local buffets, and fresh homemade bread pudding is on the menu, I have a very hard time not gorging myself on this devilish delicacy. I honestly can't get enough of it and I am hopeful that you have several varieties for me to try here at home." Who doesn't enjoy a good bread pudding. My family likes the stuff so much I find myself making it at least once a month, if not twice. I grew up on bread pudding myself, as it was a very cheap and easy way to provide a sweet treat for all the family members. I have included a wide variety of bread pudding recipes within these pages and I am sure you will find a handful that your family falls in love with. This is one of those desserts that can be served any time of year, and goes great with any holiday or family get together. As always, I love to hear from my readers and would appreciate it if you would drop me a line from time to time and let me know what you enjoy, and what you would like to see recipes for next. I am currently in college, living off campus in a shared living arrangement with several other college students. As luck would have it, we all come from middle income families, so there are few very options when it comes to making meals. Ramen noodles are a staple in our shared college crib, so I was wondering if you had any ideas on how to "spice" them up a bit." Ramen noodles have been a staple for so many families, especially those with kids and a stringent grocery shopping budget. They are also a staple in our home because of their simplicity and versatility. My kids enjoy them, as do the hired help around the homestead, which is why I assembled this special recipe book, just for those who need a little help making ends meet. The Ramen noodle recipes included in this latest recipe book are flavorful and spicy. A vast majority of these recipes can be prepared very easily in a matter of minutes, which is an added bonus around here when things get busy and time is short. Ramen noodles are so easy to make that I often let my kids make their own, and doctor them up as they see fit. As a matter of fact, more than a few of these recipes come directly from my kids experiments. A few of our favorite Ramen noodle recipes include; Broccoli and Ramen Salad, Thai Chicken Peanut Ramen Salad, Sunflower Napa Salad and Cubed Chicken Ramen Noodle Salad, just to name a few. If you're in need of quick, easy, and cost effective meal solutions, then this is the recipe book for you. Bon Appetit, Ann Sullivan
