As her horde streams through the gates into Belvedere, her success is almost guaranteed, only she has overlooked Arwhon and the shadowy being within him. Miguel Aguilar - Australian writers have an extraordinary ability to make stories like this one very entertaining. I liked this book very much. Melody - OMG! I loved this book. Artificial Intelligence was not a stretch to imagine! The scenery descriptions were so lifelike I felt like I'd seen it before! This book kept me on the edge of my seat with anticipation! Excellent story teller! I want more! 2018. Its coming. Imagine an Australia with DNA matched Identity Cards, secret Government Agencies and a large Secret Police force. What freedom? The Fembots Revolt, after an extensive rewrite, is a far better offering than the original edition - The Femmebots Revolt. It is much improved! Instead of rabbiting on I've reproduced the majority of a review of the 1st Edition of this book as it encapsulates everything I would want to say about the story and gets to the heart of the matter. Relished the read by D. Rickson January 21, 2013 Format: Kindle Edition-Verified Purchase This is a premise I've always found very thought provoking. "The Femmebots Revolt" delves into issues of artificial intelligence and robot freedom, and while the robots can defend themselves - it's not one of those stories where robots are foolishly granted outrageous superpowers dangerous to human life that are used to drive the plot. It can be difficult to write convincing robot rebellion stories. From a human perspective, it seems natural for an intelligent being to want to live its own life, on its own terms. But any machine must be built using valuable resources and time. If robots are able to run off and refuse to perform their function, then no one is going to want to buy any more of those robots. Plus, these robots need electricity and presumably maintenance. No one will buy or build them if they refuse to serve. Yet an intelligent being in theory is entitled to some level of protection. At the end, a solution to the issue is found. As for the human characters, the story progresses as a far future cop drama. Almost as surreal as artificially intelligent femmebots is a fictional Police Department where the chief of police is not some ham-fisted, cigar puffing jackass who's totally lost touch with the job and makes life unnecessarily difficult for the hero cop. It almost seems perverse for the bold detective to have the support of his department and superiors as a valuable colleague. (Perhaps I watch the wrong kind of cop movies) it could almost be argued as a missed opportunity for conflict. Nonetheless, plenty of other sources for human conflict do occur, and the sexbots themselves are secondary to a seamy underworld of human greed and ambition, which leads back to the potential of intelligent robotics. I had my doubts initially, (if the robots are misbehaving, replace them with less autonomous models) but there are enough layers of the story to prevent simplistic answers. It was highly enjoyable and I did relish the read.

Most of the Northern Land is at peace, thanks to the efforts of Arwhon, his Shield, Servant and Arm but in a country far to the south, on the shores of the Inland Sea, there is upheaval. A white-bearded Healer, Septican Mycindun and his crippled grandson, Traginal, are forced to flee their home in the village of Bardton after an edict condemning magic and banishing those with deformities is passed by the heartless Regent of Melintana, Duke Erkhart. The pair escape north to the neighbouring country of Boronia where they stay at the keep of Septican's friend, Wiley Balfour. What follows is life changing for both of them, eventually leading to threatened capture and death at the hands of a Regent who years ago murdered Septican's son. Duke Erkhart is so determined to become King of Melintana that he has enlisted the aid of a huge male drakon, Serkahn to assist in his takeover but Serkahn has his own plan, domination of his Drakon Queen and control of the drakon hive. Meanwhile, Arwhon and Sihron'del fulfill a promise made to Cringle and accompany him to Cheshwon to help find his mother. The only clue Cringle has to his mother's identity is the razor-edged Phoenix fan which she'd left with the woman who cared for him. Cheshwon proves to be a difficult place for them to travel in and evil once more rears its head to place difficulties in their path. The world of True Fire has been expanded in this, the fourth of the series. Some of the characters from the first three books return once more and there are many new and interesting characters and lands to fire the imagination as the reader is led deeper into novel and unusual situations and conflicts. Here be Drakons.
First of all I want to say that in no way do I want to make light of the impact of Domestic Violence on women in our society but at least twenty five percent (25%) of the victims of domestic violence are men. One quarter of the total victims, and yet we hear nothing about them. No media coverage, not much mention in all the various Government publications and reports and certainly none in relation to meaningful assistance for these forgotten victims. Why not? In 2017 there was a reported 546,000+ men Australia wide who suffered violence at the hands of their female partners. (Government figures). It seems as if they are purposefully being overlooked. Hidden behind a dark curtain. Again, why? This book was written in an attempt to shed some light on the problem and offer some informed opinion on the subject of male victims of domestic violence and why they are being ignored by both society and the Government. They receive very little assistance other than a telephone consultation, are often blamed for the violence they themselves have suffered and, on the say so of their partner, can be banned from contact with their children. Their plight is an invidious scourge and an indictment of the various Australian Governments which have actively ignored the situation in spite of all the available evidence. I hope the situation will be redressed in the foreseeable future.
