Our Adventure Continues! We did it! We kayaked over 300 miles around the Door County Peninsula, Wisconsin's thumb. From Green Bay up and around the peninsula, through Deaths Door, and back south along the Lake Michigan coast line to Kewaunee! Paddle lift! Check out my first book for these adventures. Now what? Took us a little time, and then we got it. The shoreline didn't end! So. . . we can keep paddling south. We continue to do day paddles, trying for about 10 miles a day. But don't fret-again in this book, there are all the possible launch sites, so you can customize the paddles to your preferences. This journey starts in Sturgeon Bay, appropriate because it is the beginning of the Schooner Coast. We paddle through the Sturgeon Bay Shipping Channel, and turn south. Paddling to Algoma, Kewaunee, Two Rivers, and to Manitowoc. All part of the Schooner Coast. But. . .on we travel south, following Wisconsin's Lake Michigan Water Trail and Wisconsin's proposed Lake Michigan National Marine Sanctuary: to Sheboygan, Port Washington, Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and finally to Illinois! But why stop there? We choose to make Chicago our final destination. Yup, it's not part of Wisconsin, but who can resist? Such fun to explore the cities with urban paddles, but the between sections are the true slice of Wisconsin with all the nature areas and state parks to discover. This book offers the best of both worlds, quiet natural solitude, and busy urban enthusiasm! At times, the Lake is serene, and other times boisterous and wavy. A few times, we choose to not attempt Lake Michigan and her whitecaps. These days, we choose to sightsee the rivers. Thus, I include the kayak-able rivers in this book: Algoma's Anhapee River, the Kewaunee River, Two Rivers West and East Twin Rivers, Manitowoc River, Sheboygan River, the Milwaukee River, the Root River in Racine, Kenosha's Pike River, and the memorable Chicago River.Whichever paddle you choose to enjoy, we pray for your safety, and that you have a unique unforgettable fantastically fun experience! Hopefully, our story and information, guides you to enjoy the incredible beauty of Wisconsin's Lake Michigan Water Trail, Schooner Coast, and Marine Sanctuary. From her beautiful beaches, soaring bluffs, lovely lighthouses, underwater shipwrecks, parks, and cities, have fun and enjoy exploring!
