1873. Poet and travel writer Bayard Taylor produced popular chronicles of his journeys at home and abroad, as well as novels and collections of poetry. He traveled to Northern Europe with his special object being the study of Swedish life, language and literature. The most noteworthy result was his long narrative poem Lars.
