To have proof that there is an afterlife is a gift from Heaven. My granddaughter, Amanda Owen, passed tragically in a horrific car accident at the age of 18. I never thought I would hear her voice again, but six weeks later, I heard her say, "Gram, I'm okay." From the Other Side, Amanda set me on a journey of discovery: about the afterlife, and about myself. Through my medium, Hazel, Amanda has guided me to share what I have learned through the writing of this book--she was, literally, my ghost writer. Six years after Amanda left us, I know with certainty she was right--she is okay. That has taken some of the sorrow away. But, I still have a long way to go--the journey my granddaughter has set me on isn't finished yet.

I am worried because he still cannot tolerate the sun. I thought by now he would have adjusted, even just a bit. He sleeps most of the day and wants to play in the night. An unfortunate incident happened the other day. The young man, Randy, who drives me around, thought to take a peek at Santan, and he pulled across the special cover I had made for the baby's car seat. The sun seared Santan's cheeks. I had tried to stress to Randy that Santan had a serious sensitivity to the sun. Well, he believes me now...Now for the most urgent news I have to burden you with. I am with child again -- his child. I guess, in some ways, I should be thankful, for it means Santan will have a brother or sister. However, I cannot help worrying. will this child be the same as its brother, or will it be more like me? Either way, I could be in trouble. Do you have any advice for me? If Santan eventually partakes in his father's 'habits, ' how will I be able to protect this new child? How safe will I be?...I'll wait (eagerly) to hear from you.Love, Virginia
After Virginia's heart is torn apart, she moves to a small city and tries to build a new life. One night, she decides to investigate a mysterious old mansion that she passes each day. Petrified by what she witnesses as she peers through a window, Virginia attempts to flee...Awakening inside the mansion, Virginia comes face to face with its secrets -- Teresa, a mysterious beauty; Max, a seemingly sinister old man; and HIM, the Count Basarab Musat, a Transylvanian vampire who manipulates and controls everything, and everyone, who crosses his path. When Virginia realizes she is the count's prisoner, she is forced into playing a dangerous game -- her very survival depends on the outcome. Virginia prays every day to be free from the evil world she has stumbled upon -- where the undead are so alive!"Night's Gift" is the beginning of Virginia's story...IntroductionI am relating this story to you through my eyes ... for it is only my eyes that are capable of seeing into hearts that did not exist; my eyes that can weep for that which was lost; my eyes that are capable of showing any emotion beyond nothingness. It is only my pen that would dare to tell such a story -- for those I resided with for a time would not want such secrets to be known. This is a story that must be told. It is a story that, as you read it, you might believe was written as a Hollywood movie script. It is a story that you'd never dream you would actually ever live. It is my story -- a part of my life that can never be erased from my memory --- which will live on for eternity. For eternity itself has sealed it within its pages.Despite all that he could not do for me, I shall be forever grateful to Max for the scraps of paper he provided me with during my sojourn at the house. I have gathered together the scattering of scribbles I was able to write, and I have managed to decipher the majority of my words. However, many of my pages were written beneath a torrent of tears, smearing a great many of the letters into unintelligible scratching. As a result, some of my story has been recreated, a little at a time, from whatever memories I have managed not to suffocate.I believe it is all here -- the love, the hate, the lies, the deceptions, the pain, and the sorrow. There was no hearty laughter where I have just come from, for there were none truly alive save I. And even though there were moments when I laughed with 'him' as we talked and bantered issues past and present, his laughter was never truly authentic. Mine was, but at this moment I cannot bring genuine laughter to surface after what happened to me inside that house. Are you one who loves to take a risk? Are you willing to turn the pages and discover the truths about my life? Then read on. I will share my moments with you in the hope that I might save at least one person from becoming immersed in such evil as I was. Before becoming overly curious about what appears to be an abandoned building, you might think twice. Before you risk a look beyond 'any' window sill, read my story!-- Virginia

The Irish have always believed in fairies, and in protecting the forests' nymphs. There is one forest in particular, deep in the heart of Ireland, sacred to the people who still believe. It is called "Fairy Forest."Many centuries ago, there was a time-honoured pact established between humans and fairies. As civilization expanded, humankind began encroaching on forests where fairies roamed freely, driving them from their homes. The fairies finally took refuge in a vast tract of forest in the heart of Ireland, building their new home beneath the roots of the ancient trees. Eventually, the fairies were joined by Elves, who made their homes in the branches of the trees, and the two kingdoms allied. After much deliberation, the fairies and elves decided to approach the humans and strike a deal. This all took place at a time when men and fairies and elves still gathered together and broke bread and drank wine. So it was, the fairies and elves went to the humans in the town that had jurisdiction over Fairy Forest and asked for protection of the woodland.Fortunately, the men in the town wanted to protect their magical friends, for they well remembered the pages in the history books about how fairies and elves had fought with humans during the great wars when horrendous forces of inhuman creatures had tried to conquer the land. Papers were drawn up, protecting Fairy Forest. It was written on the pages that no human would set foot inside the forest to destroy any part of it. It would forever be a sanctuary for the fairies and elves. Papers were signed, and it was agreed upon that a wall would also be built around Fairy Forest to keep out those tempted to enter, especially those who would come after and did not know of the historic agreement. The fairies, elves, and humans built the wall together, from the stones of the fields. The final paragraph in the document stated the treaty was good for as long as there was even one fairy or elf alive, and for as long as the surrounding towns had at least one human living in them.So it was written, and so Fairy Forest remained, untouched--until now.
"Night's Return" is a riveting continuation of the "Night's Vampire Series" ... With nowhere left to run, Virginia is praying for a saviour; however, the only one strong enough to save her and her children may be the very vampire she has been hiding from since she fled 'the house.'The Count Basarab Musat has returned to Brantford from Brasov where he was fighting against the dark forces trying to usurp his throne. Basarab has learned these forces are being led by Radu, Dracula's estranged brother, and that Radu is after his children, Santan and Samara. He is desperate to reach them first because if Radu was to get hold of the children, all would be lost, including humanity.Virginia finds herself back in 'the house' where her nightmare began. She and Basarab become embroiled in their previous game playing; however, this time they aren't the only players. Forces from all sides are fighting to keep them apart -- Teresa, Basarab's wife; Ildiko, his cousin; and Randy, the young man who is hopelessly in love with Virginia. Will love for their children, and possibly each other, be enough to bring Basarab and Virginia together at last?An excerpt ...I thought I had already experienced my greatest fears, but what was happening now surpassed them all. As I drove away from the house, leaving my children in the care of others I had no idea what our next moves were going to be. I glanced at Emelia. "Do you have plans beyond tonight?'"No.""I can't leave my children for so long -- I won't. You must figure out a way we can be together again.""that may not be possible for a while. We must ensure that no one can get their hands on the children, especially Santan. If anything were to happen to his son, Basarab would lose all focus. If that happens, the Dracul family will lose control and humankind will be annihilated.""I could help protect them."Emelia reached out and laid her hand on my leg. "No ... no, you cannot protect them because you will need protection, too. Only our kind can fully save them from harm now. If the wrong individual gets hold of you, you will be expendable. The count will not care what happens to you -- leastwise, not above his duty to his throne -- and you can be assured, Radu and Elizabeth know that." ...I had an idea growing in my head, but it would take some planning. I glanced at Emelia and felt a twinge of guilt...I tiptoed from the building and headed to the car. Just as I was putting the key in the car door, I heard the sound of a motor approaching up the driveway ... Around the corner came a familiar red Volkswagen ... The car came to a halt behind my vehicle, blocking my exit. Randy jumped out, and ran to me ... and then, Vacaresti approached us. "What are you doing, Virginia? Why is Emelia not with you?"...My feet felt like lead as I walked back to the office ... my plan had failed...

Does Camden stand a chance of keeping his dark deeds a secret when he and Emma move next door to a retired police officer and an overzealous orange tabby cat by the name of Toby? - Detective Toby! Toby has a feline sense for solving crimes, and the moment he meets Camden, he smells trouble!"Are You Listening to Me? is a murder mystery with a comedic, feline twist! An Excerpt...PREFACE: It's been a while since my last big case, so I will jog your memory about who I am. My name is Toby, and I live with Jack Nelson, a retired cop. I used to be quite stout, but since venturing into police work, I have put myself on a rigorous routine of fitness and healthy eating. That doesn't always work out for me because, as my nature dictates, I am inclined to be a tad lazy sometimes--most of the time, actually. And I never miss a meal or a snack if I am passing through the kitchen. My hair is red; I once heard someone say redheads were God's chosen people, so I assume that goes for cats too. Now, do you remember? Yes, I am a cat--Detective Toby. I solved a crime about six months ago when Jack's friend went loony and kidnapped his own kids. I saw through him right from the beginning; Jack didn't. If it hadn't been for me, goodness knows what would have happened to those kids. I was a hero, and everyone was grateful to me. The police department awarded me with a framed certificate, which certified I was a 'Class-A Detective.' I was told I was welcome any time down at the police station, which I take full advantage of every time Jack visits the captain, Bryce Wagner. There have been a lot of changes in the past six months. Jack renovated the back door. I now have my own special cat door so I can come and go from the house as I please. Jack figured if another crime needed investigating, I wouldn't have to wait for someone to open the door to get out and about detectiving if I had my own. There have also been some significant changes on the street. The old gym that used to be owned by Mardy Hampton was sold, and the new owners tore down the old building and are constructing a new one. I heard Jack say they were hoping to have it up and running by early spring. Jack has been talking about getting out of the neighbourhood for a time because he can't sleep well with all the banging going on. Personally, I can sleep through most anything, but the 24-hour noise is starting to get to me, too.At first, I thought Jack was going to move us completely out of the neighbourhood, but was relieved when I saw him just packing for a camping trip in his old campervan. I knew he wouldn't leave me behind since I accompanied him most places now. I won't bore you with the details of our month-long excursion through Northern Ontario because it isn't relevant to the story that is going to unfold in the pages to follow. Enough introductions. You know who I am now and you will be hearing more from me as the story of what happened during the summer of 2009 on the street where I live unfolds.

Thelma Bernice Kerr-Thomson was born in Toronto, Ontario on September 28, 1922. In 1942 she began her studies at the University of Toronto Law School, and in 1946 she entered Osgoode Hall. In September of 1949, Thelma was admitted to the Bar.In the 1941 census, there were 8,621 male lawyers listed in Canada; women numbered 129, and 112 of them were from Ontario. This fact incontestably says something about the times, confirming Thelma to be a bona fide pioneer of women studying law.Thelma accredits much of her success to the two men in her life - her father, who encouraged her to study law and her husband whom she worked alongside in their county law practice.j Thelma, herself, was a great advocate for women's rights in a time when women were just beginning to be heard. The local Crown Counsel in Lindsay constantly referred to Thelma as "Portia," especially when she was representing a young first-time offender. "Here comes Portia with her pitch for mercy," he would say as she entered the courtroom. From the times she grew up in, to the turmoil of love and career, to her many accomplishments within the career path she embarked upon - Thelma's story is a true inspiration to all women - then and now!

The Temper Tantrum is a delightful children's story that teaches that bullying is not okay!Christopher has a big problem-his temper. Ever since Christopher was little, all anybody who knew him could remember was a kid with a short fuse. He could throw a tantrum over everything-and nothing. Christopher's temper made life tough for him when he started kindergarten. The other children, once they saw Christopher display these impressive temper tantrums, began teasing him unmercifully. It was fun watching Christopher throw a tantrum. Christopher's school days were very lonely. He didn't have any friends, and he always had an angry look in his eyes. School was one of the most horrible places he had to endure. However, as Christopher grew older, he began realizing that throwing temper tantrums was not bringing him the kind of attention he desired. Most kids soon forgot about the tantrums and left Christopher alone; most, except for two awful boys who had made it their goal not to allow Christopher to forget about his temper tantrums.
