This timely volume critically assesses the state of education in Palestine, reframing the discourse on Israel-Palestine through the lens of education, and arguing for a paradigm shift in the way education in the region is studied, managed, and experienced.Foregrounding the voices, commentaries, and reflections of Palestinians as well as touching on differing elements of educational experience that define Palestinian identities, the book highlights that educational change in Palestine is inseparable from the need to change the politics and understanding of education in western societies. Chapters introduce the holistic concept of the lifeworld curriculum which proposes the idea that education cannot be conceived solely in relation to physical, educational spaces, but in addition should acknowledge the conceptual spaces of civil society, communities, and the world of work (the basic structures of Palestinian lives), in order to reinforce the idea that circumstances teach.Ultimately challenging western educators to rethink their approaches to education and learning in order to build a stronger global platform for human rights, democratic engagement and justice, this book will be of value to scholars, researchers, and postgraduate students in international and comparative education, multicultural education, and educational change and reform more broadly.
Do you ever feel as though you are working hard, but getting nowhere? Do you ever feel stuck? Do you want to give up? Are you exhausted? Is there a sense that something is keeping you back from getting to the Promised Land?Have you tried everything you can to find purpose and value? Have you stopped believing that you will never rise above your circumstances? Do you stop thinking you will ever experience the abundant life Christ came to give to those who follow Him.Don't give up. Don't throw in the towel. You're not alone. Everyone has moments, times, or even seasons of what Jesus' disciples experienced in Mark 6 when as they were "straining at the oars", "making headway painfully". You do not need to continually struggle in this life, even if the "storms of destruction" keep coming. You are not alone. God is with you.In this book, you will be invited to take a moment and consider what it is that is causing you to strain at the oars. You will be encouraged to set down the oars, to rest in God, to trust in the person of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you as you navigate your personal storms of destruction. In this insightful new book, author and pastor Bill Williamson draws a direct correlation between the circumstances life throws at us and how we can find peace - and victory - in the midst of life's storms.
This book offers a fundamental review of the Palestine/Israel conflict. It rejects the two state solution, which it likens to Apartheid. Instead it shows there is a better future for a single state; one that is secular and bi-national and as a result economically successful.
