What is a Grook? Many have tried to define what a grook essentially is. Most grooks say what many of us think, but they put pertinent new perspectives on everyday observations, presenting the reader with small instructions in the art of living. A grook, (or 'gruk' in the Danish language) is a short aphoristic poem. Grooks were initially created by the Danish poet Piet Hein (1905-1996), who wrote over 10,000 of them in Danish and English. Grooks capture profound meaning in a few simple lines. The beauty of grooks lies not only in their brevity but also in how they embody wisdom and profound cultural truths. Through simple yet resonant language, grooks make readers deeply contemplate life's various themes and experiences. What is a Latter-day Grook? As Latter-day Saints, we have a distinctive collection of wisdom and insight that remains primarily unacquainted to the outside world. This literature houses profound wisdom concerning life's most significant existential questions. It addresses themes like morality, righteousness, faith, and divinity. The revealed knowledge present within our literature is deeply rooted in our theology. It is often easier to recall essential writings when they appear in poetic form because poetry resonates with us. We enjoy reading or hearing something that reflects what is in our minds or hearts. The message of these Latter-day Grooks can be inscribed in our hearts and minds and offer us hope, strength, and encouragement in our effort to resist evil and overcome the world.

Imagine for a minute that you receive a phone call from President Monson's secretary informing you that the prophet would like to meet with you at his office. President Monson has requested a moment of your time because he has something important to tell you. Would you be curious to hear what the prophet wants to say to you? Would you be filled with wonder? Concern? Excitement? Anticipation? Would you consider that his message for you might be extremely significant, perhaps even critical? "Since the world began, God has raised up prophets who speak the will of heaven to the people of their times. It is our responsibility to listen and then apply the messages the Lord provides for us." - Dieter F. Uchtdorf

"This book gives me new insight...""A very interesting and faith-building book...."A testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon is founded on spiritual power. Now imagine having physical evidence that fully supports that personal, spiritual testimony. "Hieroglyphs, Golden Plates, and Typos: How Corrections in the Book of Mormon Prove Its Authenticity" presents physical evidence that the Book of Mormon is precisely what it claims to be; an ancient record written by prophets of God that was translated by Joseph Smith, Jr.The prophet Joseph Smith, Jr. declared "that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book."Moroni, however, in committing his writings to the future reader, candidly and apologetically acknowledges; "And if there be faults they be the faults of a man. But behold, we know no fault." In his book, "Hieroglyphs, Golden Plates and Typos: How Corrections in the Book of Mormon Prove Its Authenticity", Bill Wylson reveals the unique method ancient prophets used to correct "typos" that occurred while engraving reformed Egyptian hieroglyphs onto metal plates. Wylson's book offers physical proof that will back up and support the greater evidence of a spiritual witness.

All of us are familiar with Moroni's promise that Christ will manifest the truth of the Book of Mormon to us by the power of the Holy Ghost. This is just one of many promises the Lord has made regarding the Book of Mormon. In this volume, Bill Wylson outlines 31 of these promises, with their attendant blessings and conditions. This is by no means a complete list of all that the Lord promises us through the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is a witness for the divinity of Jesus Christ. It is also a witness of the truthfulness of the Bible. Its specific purpose is to reveal the great things the Lord has done for us. It brings us to a knowledge of our Savior through the testimony of the early inhabitants of the Americas. It has restored plain and precious truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ that had been lost to the world. Most importantly perhaps, The Book of Mormon will prepare the faithful for the second coming of Jesus Christ and his millennial reign. The Book of Mormon was not only given by the voice of the Lord through revelation, it also allows us to hear his voice as we delve into its pages. It renews in our hearts a profound feeling of peace and love manifest through the Spirit. Its promises are not imaginary inferences. They are, instead, precisely what Joseph Smith meant when he declared that the Book of Mormon will draw us nearer to God.The promises made in the Book of Mormon focus on matters pertaining to the kingdom of God. James advises those who seek wisdom to "ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." The promises revealed through the Book of Mormon offer us the marvels of eternity. One purpose for our earthly existence is to learn to walk by faith. As we learn to develop our powers of faith in Christ, God will not allow our faith to go unanswered. We are promised that evidence and witnesses will "follow them that believe." Everyone who reads the Book of Mormon with a pure heart and with a desire to know of its truthfulness, can hear the sweet whisperings of the Holy Spirit. The Lord promises us a "more sure witness" of the truth of these things borne of the Holy Ghost. "It is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth." The most effective way to discover truth in the spiritual realm is to ask God. "Ask, and it shall be given you."
