The publication of the rst edition of the book "Lagrangian and Hamiltonian Dynamics" gives me tremendous joy. This book was specically developed to adhere to the most recent and changed syllabus created for UG and PG students. An adequate depth of coverage with a respectable breadth has been attempted. A signicant number of problems are present in the book. If a student follows through with all of these, we hope that he or she will understand and like the topic.
