Britain's most-eligible bachelor has met the girl of his dreams. Too bad he's her worst nightmare.Stefan Cane has snogged and shagged his fair share of gorgeous women. Yet he's spent the last three months trying to forget the woman he shared a fleeting kiss with at the Jingle Ball last year. Now he's back in the tiny English village, staying across the street from her pub, The Blue Dog. The same pub he's about to put out of business.Possibly.Probably.According to his endless spreadsheets, bloody definitely. That's not the goal of the pub renovation reality show he produces, but the truth is, his job depends on him getting his project done, on time and on budget. Even though the village isn't big enough to sustain two pubs and Stefan knows it.Lucy Maclaren knows it, too. She told him that at the Jingle Ball. Right before that kiss he hasn't been able to forget. The one he desperately wants to repeat. How is he supposed to do his job when he's more worried about his so-called rival? Worse, how is he ever going to win her heart when the only thing she wants to see is his backside leaving town - preferably as soon as possible?
A standalone enemies to lovers romantic comedy Dating? Lower than a bikini wax on my list of priorities.Blind dating? Let's just say I'd rather have a Brazilian - and not the hot soccer-player variety. So the fact I've agreed to do a blind-date feature for Pink, the magazine I work for, and write it all up Bridget Jones style means one thing - Pink is in dire straits and this is my best shot at saving my job.Make that my only shot because date number one is with Jack Reese - the son of the publisher of Pink - and he dislikes me as much as I dislike him.Or at least I thought he did.
Truth is harder the second time around. I was *this* close to falling for Josh Devereaux's easy charm and killer smile. God knows he's made me feel more than anyone has in a long time, both in and out of bed. But one phone call changes everything. Especially when the truth about who Josh is and what he's done is on the other end of that phone. And trust is damn near impossible. There's only one way to make up for my past - helping Ella Ingraham avenge hers. Starting and finishing with her bastard ex. I was wrong, but he was worse. Way worse. I probably shouldn't be looking forward to ruining this guy, but Ella deserves a second chance. I'm starting to think maybe we both do.
Sometimes second chances come with a price. The last thing I need in my life is a man. Been there, done that. Have the vindictive ex and the lawyer bills to prove it. I definitely shouldn't be noticing Josh Devereaux's smile. Or his abs. But he's persistent, I'll give him that. And it's just one night. Or at least it was supposed to be. And the question isn't if you'll pay, but how much. What are the odds of Ella Ingraham walking into a bar in Horatio, Arkansas? Pretty high, apparently, because here she is. Smiling. Flirting. Look damn good in those Daisy Dukes. I shouldn't even be talking to her, let alone asking her to dinner and thinking about dessert. But she doesn't know who I am or what I've done. If I'm careful, I can keep it that way.
