Far into our future humankind controls the fabric of reality with such ease that "here" and "there" have become one. Space is bent such that many separate worlds exist, most in complete ignorance of the others. The Asymptote's Tail begins the story of the interactions between seven of those worlds. In one, a servant imagines life with no master and learns if she can withstand the risks that come with freedom. In another, a young girl is forced into freedom of another kind when her parents disappear and she sets out to find them. An actor learns how much work is done by who in which worlds and decides what he wants to do about it, a black cat tries to decipher the ways of humankind and protect his owner as she does the same, an assembly line worker seeks revenge for the death of her son, a police officer learns what the job entails and decides if he can stay on the force, and a scientist vies to regain control over her inventions which are being used to wreak havoc on all the worlds of Outland. As each new perspective illuminates experiences from the old, the Sisyphean nature of chasing an endless limit and the totality of contradictions inherent in a divided system become clear. "Then" and "now" take on as little difference as "here" and "there", for in the end, we are all, everywhere, and forever chasing The Asymptote's Tail. The Asymptote's Tail is an epic science fiction novel and the first in the four-part Infinite Limits series.
Lord Walker's no longer Lord and he is not going to stand for it, even if his pneumatic pants try to force him to. No, he was born Lord and he was meant to stay that way until the day he died-which would be never. But by some miracle of luck, Mr.-now Lord-Douglas has stolen his seat at the head of the Fortune Five and now Mr. Walker is forced to do everything in his power to get it back, even if that means making some risky business decisions and negotiating with owners he'd rather never have to speak to in the first place. In the meantime-and in another world entirely-Ansel has no family left to her. The Scientist offered her brand of help but Ansel knows that the Scientist's "help" is more trouble than it's worth. Instead she sets out to do the only sensible thing left in front of her, run away to the wilderness to live her life in peace. In that wilderness, however, she finds something more unsettling than she ever could have imagined facing, even when she lived in the Streets. Join Mr. Walker and Ansel, Nikola, Laura, Chelsea, Anna, and newcomer Roo, in book three of the Infinite Limits tetralogy which includes The Asymptote's Tail and An Almost Tangent. Two worlds of Outland have already been reconnected and power structures are shifting in all the rest. Find out where the chips fall as the story continues in this new installment: Dividing by Ø.
The walls between Outlands Five and Six have been destroyed, forcing the two to merge into a third, new world. In An Almost Tangent, book two of the Infinite Limits tetralogy, we follow six new points of view and one old as they each deal with unique consequences of that merger. The owners of Inland face a choice. Would it be more profitable to resegregate Five and Six or to allow the two worlds to continue to intermingle? Lord Walker has his opinion on the matter, and the other members of the Fortune Five have theirs, but in the meantime, they all still have the chaos of riots and protests throughout all the Outlands to deal with. In Outland One we experience firsthand the life of a protector in training. In Two we follow Tillie, a university student, as she unwittingly joins a protest movement on campus. In Three we meet a no name movie crew, attempting to become famous with their first independent film. While Five and Six bring us one never before introduced character's point of view and that of an old friend, both to explore life in the poorest worlds-now world-of Outland. Leaving us with none other than Ansel Server. Having lost her mother to the wrath of the protectors, she's left only to fight for the life of her father-who was imprisoned by those very same protectors. The Scientist promised she'd help, Ansel's dead set on making sure they get to him in time, and the only way to find out what happens is to join us for An Almost Tangent.
Decades after the events that took place in Dividing by Ø, and despite the Scientist's every effort to stall construction, the long process of rebuilding the walls between Outlands Five and Six is almost complete. In the meantime, Lord Douglas and his android workforce are locked into a brutal and bloody protracted war against Mr. Walker and his human Luddites. Jorah Baldwin is now the most viewed actor in all of history; Tillie Manager, true to her name, has become an actual manager; and still, life goes on in Six, the poorest of Outlands, where newcomers Thim and Stevie do everything they can to survive-so far as collecting garbage and eating rats. 0.N Repeating is the fourth and final installment in the epic four-part dystopian science fiction series Infinite Limits-which includes The Asymptote's Tail, An Almost Tangent, and Dividing by Ø. Read on for the conclusion to the stories of Ansel, Haley, Mr. Kitty, and the rest of the citizens of Outland. We do nothing alone.
