Economic perspectives in network management have recently attracted a high level of attention. The Third Workshop on Economic Traffic Management (ETM 2010) was the continuation of two successful events that were held at the University of Zürich, Switzerland in 2008 and 2009. The main objective of ETM 2010 was to offer sci- tists, researchers, and operators the opportunity to present innovative research on ETM mechanisms, to discuss new related ideas and directions, and to strengthen the cooperation in the field of economics-technology interplay. Being co-located with the International Teletraffic Congress (ITC22), ETM 2010 brought together a new and fast-growing scientific community. The concept of ETM has emerged due to the fact that a multitude of different se- interested players are simultaneously active in the Internet. While such players may either compete or complement each other in the value chain for service providers, each of them has his own incentives and interests. To enable a win-win situation for all players involved (basically end users, Internet Service Providers (ISP), telec- munication operators, and service providers), new incentive-based approaches have been recently developed, tested, and even commercially deployed, which fall under the domain termed Economic Traffic Management (ETM). ETM mechanisms aim at improving efficiency within the network, e. g., by reducing costs, while also impr- ing Quality-of-Experience (QoE) for end users or applications.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th IFIP WG 6.6 International Conference on Autonomous Infrastructure, Management, and Security, AIMS 2012, held in Luxembourg in June 2012. The 10 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 23 submissions. They cover autonomic and distributed management, network security, network monitoring, and special environments and Internet of Things. In addition, this book contains 9 workshop papers which were selected from 18 submissions. They deal with high-speed networks and network management, intrusion detection, and network monitoring and security.

This volume of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series publishes the set of papers accepted for the ICQT 2006 workshop, i.e., the 5th International Workshop on Internet Charging and QoS Technology (ICQT), which was collocated with ACM SIGMETRICS. These events took place in St. Malo, France and were hosted by the IUT (Institut Universitaire Technologique) of St. Malo. QoS-guaranteed services enable a huge variety of prosperous business models, and the need for viable models and pricing schemes is urgent. The resulting combination of technical and economic perspectives drives many relevant research topics for application developers, business architects, network providers, service providers, and customers. Especially the identification of novel service charging solutions, the investigation and evaluation of their technical feasibility, and the consolidation of technical and economic mechanisms for enabling a fast, guaranteed, and efficient charging of services is of fundamental importance for the future evolution of the Internet, and as such the central focus of the international ICQT workshop series. This year's ICQT constituted the 5th vivid workshop on Internet economics and charging technology, which initially took place in 2001 in Vienna, Austria within the framework of the Annual Meeting of the German Society for Computer Science (GI) and the Austrian Computer Society, and which was collocated in 2002 with the QofIS 2002 workshop in Zurich, Switzerland, in 2003 with the NGC 2003 workshop in Munich, Germany, and in 2004 again with QofIS 2004 in Barcelona, Spain.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 8th IFIP WG 6.6 International Conference on Monitoring and Securing Virtualized Networks and Services, AIMS 2014, held in Brno, Czech Republic, in June/July 2014. The 9 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 29 submissions. The volume also includes 13 papers presented at the AIMS Ph.D. workshop. They were reviewed and selected from 27 submissions. The full papers are organized in topical sections on emerging infrastructures for networks and services; experimental studies for security management; and monitoring methods for quality-of-service and security. The workshop papers are organized in topical sections on management of virtualized network resources and functions; security management; SDN and content delivery; monitoring and information sharing.

This volume of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series contains all papers accepted for presentation at the 10th IFIP/IEEE International Workshop on Distributed Systems: Operations and Management (DSOM'99), which took place at the ETH Zurich in Switzerland and was hosted by the Computer Engineering and Networking Laboratory, TIK. DSOM'99 is the tenth workshop in a series of annual workshops, and Zurich is proud to host this 10th anniversary of the IEEE/IFIP workshop. DSOM'99 follows highly successful meetings, the most recent of which took place in Delaware, U.S.A. (DSOM'98), Sydney, Australia (DSOM'97), and L'Aquila, Italy (DSOM'96). DSOM workshops attempt to bring together researchers from the area of network and service management in both industry and academia to discuss recent advancements and to foster further growth in this ?eld. In contrast to the larger management symposia IM (In- grated Network Management) and NOMS (Network Operations and Management S- posium), DSOM workshops follow a single-track program, in order to stimulate interaction and active participation. The speci?c focus of DSOM'99 is "e;Active Technologies for Network and Service Management,"e; re?ecting the current developments in the ?eld of active and program- ble networks, and about half of the papers in this workshop fall within this category.

This book constitutes a collaborative and selected documentation of the scientific outcome of the European COST Action IS0605 Econ@Tel "A Telecommunications Economics COST Network" which run from October 2007 to October 2011. Involving experts from around 20 European countries, the goal of Econ@Tel was to develop a strategic research and training network among key people and organizations in order to enhance Europe's competence in the field of telecommunications economics. Reflecting the organization of the COST Action IS0605 Econ@Tel in working groups the following four major research areas are addressed: - evolution and regulation of communication ecosystems; - social and policy implications of communication technologies; - economics and governance of future networks; - future networks management architectures and mechanisms.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th International Workshop on Internet Charging and QoS Technologies, ICQT 2011, held in Paris, France, in October 2011 collocated with the 7th International Conference on Network and Service Management. The 6 revised full papers presented together with an abstract of a keynote paper were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on service guarantees, evaluation of pricing schemes, and inter-domain services.
