In reConstruction for women's Leadership, I argue that until we reach 30% of women in leadership positions by 2030, companies will leave profits on the table because of inequity, and dysfunction. Can we ever get to a level of inclusion in companies where there is equal access, and everyone can thrive? It will take a disruption of the leadership practice status quo and reconstruction to a more inclusive culture for women's leadership. How? This volume takes an inside out deep dive to provide tips for recognizing and restructuring by looking at key aspects of contemporary leadership practice. It shows how decision-making, ethics, radical learning, and strategic networks can be converted into formal structures of individual and organizational development and strategic succession planning. It calls for company-wide coalitions and collaboration between women and men. It is not a heavy lift if a company wants to gain a global leadership advantage with women who are hard-wired to lead.
In Volume I, the focus is on the leadership work context where women work. Shocked at what I found, this sobering, candid discussion makes a clear but disturbing connection between the secrets of abusive power and control of domestic violence and leader's abusive power behaviors in companies. The book shows how Inequity is linked to bias against women in relation to their gender, image, money, and sex, in the church, in society, and the workplace. This is not for the faint of heart! Contemporary leaders have found inexcusable ways to circumvent laws and keep workplace secrets silent - with seeming impunity. But retributive and restorative justice present ways to achieve sustainable change that breaks barriers to women's leadership.
If women can lead why does leadership culture block access to women as leaders? This volume tells all! It breaks the code of silence to uncover the most potent and coercive way leaders use to intimidate and keep women from access to leadership, empowerment, and self-determination. It exposes how power differentials are leveraged through narratives that manipulate the truth about women's leadership into believable myths and the spins that influence perspectives on women. The volume highlights women's leadership effectiveness, describes metaphors that explain women's leadership, reviews a public case example of a woman candidate seeking a top leadership position, and concludes with what to do when you are hard-wired to lead and want to lead. It is a thought-provoking, groundbreaking and candid look at how culture influences leadership practice through the lens of gender bias. An eye-opener!
Much like how tectonic plates interact, this volume explores the convergent, divergent, and transforming interaction of multiple forces pressing against adult contemporary education.
