his study deals with the use of shock action by forces composed of a combination of horse cavalry and mechanized cavalry, based on the premise that such action fills a need apparent in the tactical and strategical operations of modern warfare. Topics include unit training, value of shock action by cavalry in the past, introduction of mechanization (tanks), sources of shock power, participation in battle to assist in gaining decision, as well as various battles used as examples.
