Christian Falsters tekst "Diskurs om straffe for boghandlere" stammer fra hans essays i "Amonietates philologicae", der udkom på latin i årene 1729-1732. På dansk fik de titlen "Lærdoms Lystgaard" i Jørgen Olriks oversættelse fra 1919.I den lille tekst om boghandlerne har Falster en hel del at sige om boghandleres og bogtrykkeres frihed og begrænsninger og om de magthavere og rige bibliofiler, der samler på forbudte bøger, blot fordi de er sjældne.Christian Falster (1690-1762) var en dansk skolemand, filolog og digter. Han var gennem det meste af sit voksne liv tilknyttet katedralskolen i Ribe, hvor han fra 1723 fungerede som rektor. Sideløbende skrev han på latin om romersk litteratur og leksikografi og udgav essays og anonyme verssatirer på latin og dansk.
Christian Falster (1690-1752) var kendt som en af 1700-tallets største danske satirikere. Skønt han var en stor tilhænger af enevældet, gik han også ind for oplysningstidens kritiske syn og udfordrede i sine satirer de accepterede synspunkter og holdninger på så vittig og bidsk vis, at de måtte trykkes i udlandet og udgives anonymt. Selv flere hundrede år efter de blev skrevet, kan Christian Falsters satirer sætte gang i lattermusklerne.Christian Falster (1690-1752) var en dansk digter, satiriker, skolemand og klassisk filolog. Han stod bag en lang række satirer, som blev udgivet anonymt og på dansk. Endvidere skrev han også en række anerkendte diskurser og historier på latin. Christian Falsters første satire, "Disse Tiders onde Optugtelser", udkom i 1720, mens han mest kendte, "Verden som et Doll-Huus" udkom i 1730.
Vor tids unge har fået en dårlig opdragelse. De ved for lidt, de vælter sig i stimulanser og burde sætte sig ned og tie stille og lære noget mere. Det mente Christian Falster også i 1720, så han skrev et langt, satirisk digt om vor tids onde optugtelse. De næste år fortsatte han med at brokke sig over folk, der kommer hjem fra udlandet og gør sig til af, hvad de har set rundt omkring, mens de ikke kender deres eget land, om kvinder, der er pyntedykker og tomme i hovedet og hvad han ellers kunne finde på at beklage sig over og konkluderede i en af sine sidste satirer, at verden er ét stort dårehus.
