Part Two of the No One Of Consequence series follows Ethan as he guides his random hook ups with Noah into relationship territory while balancing work and friendships, new and old in his Portland, Oregon community. Just as things are looking up, a mall shooting occurs in his store and a friend receives some devastating news. Because life is lumpy and you never know what challenges lurk around the next corner, Ethan doesn't always know what to do, but he knows that how he handles these challenges will affect both his own happiness and that of everyone around him.
What do you do when the end is not, indeed, The End?Well, thanks to a little help from his friends and two simple words of tough love from his sassy and slightly frightening Executive Assistant, we're about to find out. Having been dumped by his long term partner, Ethan is left to figure out the next step in his life. Balancing work and self-soothing, he takes in a roommate that is nearly half his age and takes on the challenge of helping a young gay man find his way in the world as an adult. He also wades into social media and dating apps to help retain a semblance of a lifestyle while rebuilding a life as a newly minted singleton. There he makes an older gay friend who is someone who can help guide him toward finding his identity outside of the definition of a relationship. He finds that reaching back to help a younger generation while leaning on an older generation for his own support is the medicine he needs for his broken heart and psyche. There is also unlikely support outside of Portland's gay community, where he has rarely ventured outside the confines of his professional life. Wine also helps. He - indeed - discovers a Whole New World. So come along as old injuries are healed, new friendships are formed and Ethan discovers that when what you thought would last forever doesn't; there are other, more fulfilling forevers to be had once you know where to look.
