Debussy's sole completed opera was given its premiere at Paris' Opera Comique on April 30, 1902. It was the culmination of an eight-year effort on the composer's part. Though not an immediate sensation like Puccini's "Madame Butterfly" two years later in Milan, the five-act lyric drama, after the identically titled play by Maeterlinck, enjoyed a successful run in the first two decades of the 20th century. This new vocal score is a digitally-enhanced reprint of the one issued in Paris by A. Durand et Fils in 1907, with an English translation of the text by Harry Grafton Chapman appearing beneath the original French. Now available in a convenient, readable A4 format at an affordable price. In contrast to so many of the on-demand scores now available, this one comes with all the pages and the images have been thoroughly checked to make sure it is actually readable. As with all PLP scores a percentage of each sale is donated to the amazing online archive of free music scores and recordings, IMSLP - Petrucci Music Library. Wikipedia article IMSLP page

Trois Chansons is a collection of songs composed by Claude Debussy featuring four mixed voices without accompaniment. The songs are set to lyrics by Charles d'Orleans and are considered among the most significant works of the Impressionist composer. The collection includes the songs Dieu! This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.This work is in the "public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations.
Distinguished by its sure and economical craftsmanship, Pelleas et Melisande is Debussy's only opera -- a perfect marriage of music and verse that ranks as one of the great landmarks in the history of the form, so sublimely does the musical style fit Maeterlinck's allegory of guilt and innocence. In its premiere performance at the Opéra-Comique on April 30, 1902, Pelleas et Melisande created an uproar -- a reaction perhaps to the unique harmonies and advanced orchestration Debussy unveiled in the work. Though initially considered subversive, his harmonic innovations remained rooted in the tonal system, deepening and extending its scope. Today, the opera is universally hailed as the summit of French musical impressionism, a unique poetic conception in which Debussy's powers of orchestral and vocal writing are at their pinnacle.Reprinted in its entirety from the authoritative E. Fromont (1904) edition, this faithful edition reproduces the full orchestral and vocal score in clear, large, legible notation for easy reading and study. A new English translation of the original French front matter further enhances the value and completeness of the volume.

Perhaps the most famous work of Claude Debussy (1862-1913) is Clair de Lune, from the Suite Bergamasque. In this Modern Edition, contemporary composer Grant Dersom rejuvenates the printed score by editing with modern techniques, complete with fingerings, pedal indications, and supplementary information.
