I often wrote memory articles to record the past. These are the true portrayal of my life and feeling. The articles recorded my happy childhood, harsh and industrious teenage, confused and helpless send-down youth, and memorable college life. They also described my romance, and miss of my parents. These experience may not be so important to others, but are precious memories to me. For those disappeared days, I publish this collection to commemorate the life, which would never happen again.

In the northwest part of Sichuan province, China, there is a wonderland of beauty, called Huanglong and Jiuzhaigou. Huanglong (Yellow Dragon) is located in the southern part of the Minshan mountain range on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau. This area is known for its colorful pools formed by calcite deposits, especially in Huanglonggou (Yellow Dragon Gully), as well as diverse forest ecosystems, snow-capped peaks, waterfalls and hot springs. Huanglong was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1992. Jiuzhaigou (Valley of Nine Fortified Villages) is about 100 km away from Huanglong, a nature reserve and national park. It is known for its multi-level waterfalls, colorful lakes, and snow-capped peaks. Jiuzhaigou was declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1992 and a World Biosphere Reserve in 1997. The area of Huanglong and Jiuzhaigou is home to many endangered species including the giant panda (living fossils), red panda and the Sichuan golden snub-nosed monkey. Bamboo is the main diet for giant pandas. There are a significant number of pandas living in captivity in the area for travelers to visit.

From 80s of the last century, China sent a large number of PhD students to the United States. Some of them stayed in the United States after graduation, got married and had successful career. This fiction novel describes Professor Ding Yi who had scientific collaboration with a Chinese academic institution. He met many strange people and had many bizarre stories in China. Thirty years of reform and open-door policy transformed China completely upside down, so elusive. Seduced by money and dazzling girls, Ding Yi did not recognize the homeland where he grew up. Cong Yan is a passionate fiction writer and a poet living in Carmel, Indiana, USA. In addition to this fiction collection, he also authored fictions of "Seagull Professor", "Blooming Azalea", "Bloody Rose", etc.. He is also a photographer who loves to travel and catch amazing moments of landscape and people using camera. Currently, he is a professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine.

In 80s of the last century, China implemented an open-door policy by sending a large number of students to study in the United States, expecting them to return home and serve for China. In 1989, China surged with stormy movement of freedom and democracy. The conservatives and reformists fiercely battled for power control. In the United States, Chinese oversea-students were inspired and encouraged by the movement. While they were trying to accomplish their study, they were actively engaging in the democratic rallies and parades to echo what was going on in China that would determine their fate in the future. The "6.4th Massacre" in Tiananmen Square smashed their dream of democracy, during which they experienced griefs and losses. When they met again in their reunion more than twenty years later, everything had been changed, except that those sweetness and sorrow were still buried inside their hearts.

Famous Professor Liu Yihe raised his daughter Azalea alone in the United States and sent her to a prestigious medical school. While served as a resident physician in a hospital, Azalea discovered a shocking secret more than 30 years ago from an unexpected accident of Liu Yihe.
