Connemara and the Burren are two adjacent but strongly contrasted regions of the west of Ireland which have long been famous among botanists - professional and amateur alike - for their wealth of rare and interesting plants. But in spite of their renown there is no general account of their flora with details of the distribution of the various species. This book fills the gap.
The Flora Europaea, originally published between 1964 and 1980, explores the synthesis of all the national and regional Floras of Europe. The fifth and final volume covers the Monocotyledons. The text, in English, uses a limited vocabulary, and there are glossaries of technical terms and Latin equivalents.
