Osteoarthritis (OA) is a complex disease that affects the whole joint, causing significant pain, disability, and a decreased quality of life in many cases. Clinical treatments for OA have typically emphasized symptom relief for joint discomfort rather than slowing the spread of the condition. The focus of OA prevention strategies has recently switched to early detection and slowing or stopping the disease's progression before it causes extensive damage. Nanotechnology has been applied in several medical fields including the treatment of OA. Nanoparticles (NPs) may pass through a variety of obstacles, and the development of NPs that encapsulate or bind drug molecules can increase pharmaceutical solubility, stability, and absorption capacity.
Cancer is the leading cause of death in the world and is expected to estimate about 12 million deaths in 2030. Therefore, scientists are in continuous challenged in order to discover the most effective methods of cancer diagnosis, monitoring and treatment. The rapid progression of nanotechnology has support a great interest in the field of nanoparticle research, in particular, its medical applications. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as tumor sensors and drug delivery agents are used as enhancers in photothermal therapy of cancers.
Exosomes are small membrane-binding vesicles highly generated by utmost cells both in normal and morbid conditions, their production stimulated by a lot of agents such as extracellular stimuli (microbial infection and stress states). Exosomes main function was the elimination of dispensable proteins from the cells. Now, it was found that exosomes play a central role in cell¿cell communication and other biological functions. Recent studies revealed the role of these vesicles as modern biomarkers in the prognosis, diagnosis and management of cancer and of other diseases and consider their therapeutic potential in the treatment.
Obesity is one of the major nutrition related disorders; the etiology of obesity involves complex relations between dietary factors and various internal factors (genes, and metabolism) and external exposures (lifestyle, and environmental factors). These conditions associated with weight gain and biological alterations in the body participate in the progression of a wide group of diseases including oxidative stress, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and depression.
