Despite claims by science fiction and science itself to the contrary, people will keep dying, and they will need to be...handled. This book is a celebration of the adventures and misadventures that occur when working with the dead and the survivors of the deceased. I hope you enjoy it. I hope you keep an open mind while reading it. I hope it makes you mad as heck at times and makes you laugh at times. I hope it makes you rethink death and what you want to happen to your own body once you depart from us.

There is something wrong with education in America. No. Belay that. There is something wrong with education in the world. Year after year, in different ways and using different methods, schools churn out and chew up millions of children who possess only a generalized relatively useless body of knowledge, pass a few standardized tests, and can't seem to function in the real world. Something needs to change. It's time we switch over to a functional education that will train our kids for success rather than set them up for failure.
How many of you want to be prepared for life when the crap hits the fan? I'm talking zombies, nuclear warfare, economic collapse, or aliens. What about something a little less dramatic but way more common that changes your life? Such as hurricanes, floods, civil unrest, or terrorism. It's good to be prepared, and reading good end of the world fiction like Patriots by James Wesley, Rawles is a great way to educate yourself. But those books only go so far. If you've ever read them and wished you had a little more information on tools and techniques, then this book is for you. An Informal and Unofficial Preppers Guide to James Wesley, Rawles' Patriots goes beyond the fiction and into the tactics, strategies, weapons, and more that are used in the book. This edition, the first in its series, is written by Dr. David Powers, the founder of the Center for Apocalyptic Studies, and an expert in staying alive when things fall apart.

As a kid, with non-clinical obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in full pre-pubescent bloom, I loved scouring through the red covered Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature. I read those books more than I did the magazines, subjects, and articles cited within them. They were just so darned orderly and full of their own very specific brand of information. As I grew older, I found myself internally cataloging subjects and items of interest in my own reading, whether it was non-fiction, fiction, or comic books. As I moved on and comic books became a serious passion for me through the years, I found myself wishing I had a resource similar to the Reader's Guide that covered comic books. More than once, I had the daydream of someone from a major comic book publisher calling me up and asking me to scour through their full library and compile their issues into subject matter entries. I never could find one, so here we are now. I still read a lot of comic books, both for fun and for various occupational pursuits, and I wanted to start projecting that vast amount of reading into a format that others could rely on for research purposes or just for fun. In other words, I'm sharing my knowledge with you.
Have you ever wondered is homeschooling was right for you? Or if you were qualified to do it? My recommendation would be to unequivocably say, "Yes!" to both until you at least take the opportunity and try it. This book is a collection of ideas, teaching examples, and off-the-wall lessons that I hope will inspire you to try it. Homeschooling is a blast. I can say this from the personal experiences with my own four kids. If you already homeschool, you obviously don't need convincing. You already know how awesome it is. My hope is that, for you, this book will excite you and provide a chance to inject even more fun into the experience.
This is the third edition of David Powers' highly-respected PHP Solutions: Dynamic Web Design Made Easy. This new edition has been updated by David to incorporate changes to PHP since the second edition and to offer the latest techniques—a classic guide modernized for 21st century PHP techniques, innovations, and best practices. You want to make your websites more dynamic by adding a feedback form, creating a private area where members can upload images that are automatically resized, or perhaps storing all your content in a database. The problem is, you're not a programmer and the thought of writing code sends a chill up your spine. Or maybe you've dabbled a bit in PHP and MySQL, but you can't get past baby steps. If this describes you, then you've just found the right book. PHP and the MySQL database are deservedly the most popular combination for creating dynamic websites. They're free, easy to use, and provided by many web hosting companies in their standard packages.Unfortunately, most PHP books either expect you to be an expert already or force you to go through endless exercises of little practical value. In contrast, this book gives you real value right away through a series of practical examples that you can incorporate directly into your sites, optimizing performance and adding functionality such as file uploading, email feedback forms, image galleries, content management systems, and much more. Each solution is created with not only functionality in mind, but also visual design. But this book doesn't just provide a collection of ready-made scripts: each PHP Solution builds on what's gone before, teaching you the basics of PHP and database design quickly and painlessly. By the end of the book, you'll have the confidence to start writing your own scripts or—if you prefer to leave that task to others—to adapt existing scripts to your own requirements. Right from the start, you're shown how easy it is to protect your sites by adopting secure coding practices.
