In 1966, Percy Sledge released a sultry soulful recorded version of, "When A Man Loves A Woman." This song quickly became a musical anthem among men who fell prey to the grips of true love, or the fleeting lust of a dangerous (to their soul) woman. The full lyrics penned in this song attempt to explain the love a man may have for his woman, whether she's considered by others to be good, wayward, or downright strange-fire ratchet! Some men excuse, or defend their honor, even in light of their deceptive behavior. In the case of Samson, many have sadly expressed the travesty it was for him to have been a great anointed Nazirite warrior and ruler over God's people, who seemingly wasted his young life and strength by giving into his unrestrained passions. Unchecked, those feelings led him to live carelessly. Samson's disobedience, zeal for violence, action, and his apparent thirst for sexual immorality, caused him to be distracted. Drawn away, deceived, and then snuffed out upon the delicate lap of Delilah, the object of his desire, seemingly the "FAMOUS" (Samson) was subdued by the "INFAMOUS" (Delilah), his cockiness was no match for her coy, coquettish ways. However, behind the scene, God's orchestration was at work. And for this cause, we will take a deeper look at this great man of God's plight through this storyteller's lenses. There, we will discover (in part) why we should celebrate Samson for living his life with EXACT purpose, unto God.Also, written here are short modern-day stories of men and women caught in predicaments and entanglements. Challenging the very nature of their souls and spirits, many come to know God the Father, through His Dear Son, Jesus Christ, the "Great Deliverer!"
Dear Diary... This creative story unfolds in the form of a diary. One mid-day afternoon during heavy rainfall, Ausha, deciding to take a nap, unexpectedly has her dream interrupted by a beautiful young maiden name "Hagar," who comes and sits down beside her. Smiling at her, this maiden who appears to be about her age smiles back and then hands her an old, rickety, worn book. With a look of puzzlement on her face, Ausha accepts it. Smiling and nodding her head, the wide-eyed maiden encourages her to open it. At that moment, Ausha's thought was: "Why is this maiden smiling?" Based on what she had learned about Hagar in biblical history, she had nothing to smile about. As Ausha cracks open the ancient book, light, sound, and dust erupt from it. Brushing off the first page, Ausha gasps as she sees this caption, "My Diary." Quickly thumbing through the pages, she notices that they are blank. When she looks up to question the maiden, she is no longer there. Suddenly there is a loud thunderous sound, waking Ausha from her nap. Excited and now in pursuit of her own journal's journey, she sets out to dig through the ancient scriptures of the Bible for answers. Fused with a charge and Her God-given imagination, Ausha goes in search of the reason for Hagar's smile. She hopes to aid this young maiden by filling in a unique perspective of content to the pages of her (Hagar's) historical diary. Also shared in this amazing book are six modern-day created stories, pulled from the diaries of different women. I pray your heart is enlightened and your imagination engaged, as we once again discover the faithfulness of El Roi, "The God Who Sees Me." (Ref: Gen 16:13)
Jacob''s Leah is the compelling story of a vaulted life, love and legacy glossed over and in most cases totally missed. Until now, light will cast on Leah''s love for her husband Jacob and we will discover the cause and effect of such a love and a whole lot more. Jacob''s relationship with Leah was not by accident or incident. Leah''s story should be seen as a portrait of a type of Christ for the world to see, of God''s relentless undying loving pursuit for all of us in spirit. In the natural, she was a woman like most of us who just wanted to be loved. Leah left us a chronicled diary of her heart''s journey by sharing with us through the naming of her babies. Through them, she tells us the story of her hopes, fears, desperations, sin, repentance, redemption and finally reward. Leah would want the world to know that she was not a victim but a vessel of vindication, victory and valor. In addition, twelve created short "In Her Shoes" stories (to include my own) allows me the opportunity to veer off the main highway of Leah''s story to share the thoughts, hopes, fears, desperations, sin, repentance and redemption of myself and the other created characters, while introducing some to God and chasing others back to Him. It is my sincere hope that as you read, you will be blessed allowing the Holy Spirit of promise to guide you to your ordained destiny in God through Jesus Christ the sacrifice and ultimate lover of your life. Amen
