One of the largest fields in parasitology, medical parasitology is the subject which deals with the parasites that infect man, the diseases caused by them, clinical piture and the response generated by man against them. It's also concerned with the various methods of their diagnosis, treatment and finally their prevention & control. A parasite is an organism that live on or within another organism called the host . These include organisms such as:¿ Plasmodium spp., the protozoan parasite which causes malaria. The four species of malaria parasites infective to humans are Plasmodium falciparum,Plasmodium malariae, Plasmodium vivax & Plasmodium ovale. ¿ Leishmania donovani, the unicellular organism which causes leishmaniasis ¿ multicellular organisms such as Schistosoma spp., Wuchereria bancrofti and Necator americanus etc.Parasitology is the study of parasites and as such does not include bacterial, fungal or viral parasites. Human parasites are separated into intestinal and blood borne parasites. For a parasite to be defined as intestinal it must have an intestinal life cycle stage, though it may have life-cycle stages in the heart, circulation, lung, tissue, other animals.
Medical microbiology is a branch within the field of microbiology which focuses on microorganisms of medical interest. how they cause infections in humans, how they spread, what they do to the human body, and how they can be eradicated. People in this field may work in research labs studying microorganisms, or they may work in diagnostic labs, performing tests to identify disease-causing organisms in patients and making treatment recommendations. This branch of microbiology is amongst the most widely studied and followed branches due to its great importance to medicine. Along with providing a deep knowledge and understanding of the nature of pathogens this line of study has also been applied in several immunological innovations in the field of medical science. Through the development of vaccines against invading organisms, deadly and debilitating diseases such as small pox, polio, and tuberculosis have been either eradicated or are more treatable because of the efforts of scientists and researchers in the field of medical microbiology. Bacteria, fungi, protozoans, and viruses can all cause disease in humans.
Microbiology is the study of microorganisms or very small life forms. Special equipment is used to study such small organisms. If you are interested in microbiology there are some instruments or tools that will help. Instrumentation is a powerful tool that is used to explore the internal structure of Microorganisms . Instrumentation into clinical microbiology has resulted in increased standardization and to some extent more rapid processing of specimens and reporting of results. The application of available instrumentation to direct specimen processing may provide more rapid detection, identification, and susceptibility testing results on selected specimens. The feasibility of this approach to the processing of sterile body fluids, blood, urine, and respiratory specimens is discussed.
Activities of microorganisms are very important to almost every sector of concern to mankind. The applications of microorganisms to agriculture, forestry, food, industry, medicine, and environment. The scope and significance of microbiology has enlarged manifold, particularly when importance of environment was realized globally and the word environment was used in a much wider sense in terms of totality to include almost everything, every bit of nature. This subject concern with various field of science. This esteem also much involve medical Sciences because Antibiotic and other chemotherapeutic agents production by a range of microbes is well-known. Applications of microbes in industry are well known. Various microorganisms are used for commercial production of alcohols, acids, fermented foods, vitamins, medicines, enzymes etc. One recent development in industrial microbiology has been the production of immobilized enzymes and cells for production of these chemicals at enhanced rates with simultaneous recovery of the enzymes involved in such processes. New strains of microbes have also been developed through recombinant DNA technology for overproduction of metabolites.
