This classic play by renowned French dramatist Edmond Rostand portrays a fictionalized narrative of the life of another French playwright, Cyrano de Bergerac. Rostand's play, written in rhyming verse, tells the story of the eloquent but unattractive de Bergerac and his unlikely friendship with the more physically appealing but verbally clumsy Christian. The two men care for the beautiful Roxane, but each believes himself lacking. Cyrano's words provide Christian with the opportunity to win Roxane-or so they hope.

Rostand's masterpiece in verse CYRANO DE BERGERAC has enchanted audiences worldwide since the play's 1897 premiere in Paris. The iconic title role has inspired countless actors to light up stages large and small with wit, passion, and swashbuckling bravado. The play has seen thousands of productions in dozens of translations and adaptations and its plot has even found its way to modern Hollywood films and television sitcoms. This unabridged translation was crafted to adhere closely to Rostand's original intent of rendering the entire play in rhymed couplets to maintain the larger-than-life theatricality of the play and its title character.

Don Juan's sexual conquests have gained him an infamous reputation all over Europe. When the Devil himself begins to drag him to Hell, Don Juan makes a bargain: In exchange for another ten years of life, he will commit to doing the Devil's dark work himself by bedding as many women as possible and leaving them wanting and devastated.A decade later, the Devil catches up with Don Juan in Venice. Through a dizzying melange of puppetry, riddles and mysterious women clad in masks and cloaks, the Devil shows Don Juan that though he believed he was a master at playing romantic and sexual games, in truth he was but a plaything. This translation of one of Rostand's final works is, like the French original, written completely in rhymed couplets.
