Muhammad Iqbal (Urdu: ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿; 9 November 1877 - 21 April 1938) was a South Asian Muslim writer, philosopher, scholar and politician, whose poetry in the Urdu language is considered among the greatest of the twentieth century, and whose vision of a cultural and political ideal for the Muslims of British Raj was to animate the impulse for Pakistan. He is commonly referred to by the honorific Allama.¿¿Published in 1935, Bal-e-Jibril ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ (Wings of Gabriel) is considered by many critics as his finest Urdu poetry and was inspired by his visit to Spain, where he visited the monuments and legacy of the kingdom of the Moors.
