This third publication, as one of the fruits of the Annual Conference of the Catholic Liturgists' Association of Nigeria (CALAN) held at Domus Sancti Spiritus Guest House, Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu, Nigeria from 12th to 15th November, 2019, is definitely a welcome addition and another clear indication of the continuing interest and contribution of the liturgists in Nigeria to scholarship, evangelization and practical liturgical issues that enhance the worship-life of the Church. The ten (10) contributors ably focused attention on fundamental and very significant aspects of The Rites of Christian Funeral in the Nigerian Experience which many scholars since the Second Vatican Council have often presumed. With sacred liturgy invariably feeding into and oftentimes determining the tenor of people's spirituality of Christian death, the need for a collection of valuable papers such as these, that clarify and at the same time refresh our understanding of a key aspect of genuine religious experience, cannot be over-emphasized.

This book attempts to interpret the pros and cons of fostering the use of palm fronds in African Christian worship. It focuses on building the faith of Catholic worshippers from this traditional symbol. A keen observer discovers that symbols can help in easy transcendence from the physical to the spiritual, as well as represent heavenly realities, through the lenses of the document of the Second Vatican Council on liturgy titled: Sacrosanctum Concilium 37-40. This is especially germane in view of the reality and urgency of an integrated African liturgy. Admittedly, this study is an illuminating prognosis and promising prescription on the trend and direction for the African Church today and tomorrow.

Given that a state may achieve and enjoy emancipation, liberation, and empowerment of the citizens as practice, it may only be realized through education. This is especially of citizens in their early childhood in an atmosphere where the fundamental human rights of the citizens¿ pursuit of other socio-political and socio-moral ideals are guaranteed. This book is an eye-opener for readers who have not previously given much thought on the new direction in education and educational provision in Nigeria for achieving welfare ideals and empowerment associated with social justice and human right in early childhood care, development, and education. True as a book with educational philosophy¿s bent, coloration and leanings, it can admit and boast of inclusiveness, originality and as a well-researched material. This study provides a neutral template for assessing a burning educational issue.
