When thinking of the weirdest parts of the United States, one does not necessarily think of New England. However, its extensive history is no stranger to oddness. New England is said to be the birthplace of the hamburger, sideburns were named after a former governor, PEZ was invented there, and the first public library was established in New Hampshire. Also, let us not forget, nearly everything is void or prohibited in the tiny state of Rhode Island. Now, adding to the oddness of the North Eastern United States, we present you with New England: Weird. This book has been on a strange journey, in fact, it nearly didn't happen at all. For over a year, the pages that follow have been passed back and forth from one editor to another, swapping hands with publishers along the way, before finally landing where it stands now. What you are about to read is not necessarily horror, bizarro, whimsical writings, or anything in between. What you are about to read is simply a collection of odd tales, each set in New England, written by some of the most talented writers I know, each presenting you with an amazing variety that makes up the whole of New England: Weird Featuring Tales by Catfish McDaris, Cameron Shifflet, Garvan Giltinan, David S. Pointer, Charie D. Lamarr, David Anderson, Anna Haney, Brian Barr, Thomas Olivieri, Donald Armfield, Essel Pratt, Roma Gray

From the peculiar glance of a neighbor's dog, the weird face you see in the food on your dinner plate, or even the shadowy figure on the side of the road, an urban legends plays upon those instances of wonder and mixes them with fear. Within Urban Legends: Emergence of Fear, there are 14 stories, some similar and some very different, each touching a varied aspect of the urban legend theme. Seemingly harmless at first read, their terrors are destined to materialize when least expected, at the sound of a creaking door, while driving down the highway, or when leaving a bar in the dead of night.

Being a misunderstood youth in today's society can mean many things to many people. For a parent, it can be a confusing time. We often attribute misunderstandings to their use of technology, in lieu of the imagination that we expressed at their ages. For our children, it can be a frustrating experience. They desire relief form the pains they endure each and every day, whether emotionally, physically, or in secret, yet they fear the stigma of a drug induced cure. This book is about the frustrations, fears, facades, and frailties that our youth is faced with each and every day. It is an attempt to express the power of hope and desire for relief. The contributors within have agreed to share their bravery in the form of pictures and words, reveling the reality behind the mask that our youths wear each and every day.

Poetry comes from the heart. It doesn't matter if that heart is healthy, broken, damaged, or locked away and hidden by mental despair, poetry speaks to an inner truth. Poetry is happy, sad, inspiring, and hopeless. It is a means of bearing one's inner soul in a manner that words would otherwise not allow. It's a cry for help and a proclamation of unbreakable will. Poetry is everything that is ever experienced, summed up the most beautiful package. Poetic Despair is for those that suffer from anxiety, depression, helplessness, and despair. The words in this book may be hard to read. They may bite into your soul. They may summon memories that were once buried deep. The words may also give hope that you can get better and remind you that you are not alone.

Here then you will find such storytellers and the worlds they weave with their tales dark and light, humorous and stark, uplifting and bleak. Horrific tales of fright told around a bonfire during remote backwoods retreats are common among close friends. As each person tests the others' ability to remain calm and resist the urge to look over a shoulder as the sounds of nature bellow out in the backdrop, only one may claim victory as the most frightening of the group. Backwoods Bonfire inserts the reader into a group of friends that unintentionally create a case study on what horror means to them, attempting to coerce the others to believe that horror is specific, not fluid. However, one of the friends chooses to prove that horror is real as the fire they all gather around the Backwoods Bonfire.
There is an illusion that the holidays are saturated with happiness and joy, forming an unbreakable force field that denies negativity and nefarious instigation from entering our minds. However, despite that well-constructed façade, the global pandemic that is COVID-19 has reminded us that happiness and joy are fragile concepts that we must protect with the greatest of attention. The twelve tales within represent the horrors that seep into our minds as a reminder that happiness and joy are fragile concepts that cannot truly be experienced and enjoyed unless we understand the pain and fears that hide deep within the depths of our existence.

If you're looking for an array of Horror stories to sink your teeth into, look no further than Memento Mori...pay the Ferryman, and prepare to take the ride of your life. The title, Memento Mori, is Latin and literally means: "Remember you too must die." An ominous-sounding phrase, the saying derived from Puritan settlers who would often display tokens of death as a reminder to the living of the fragility of life...not to mention the eternal punishment awaiting those who wallowed in wickedness.Death has always been a fascination to the living, meaning different things to different groups of people. Edgar Allan Poe nailed it when he said: "The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?"There is a wealth of truly incredible talent within these pages, each storyteller attempting to explore that very question. Her is a healthy book full of decidedly unhealthy stories. With Death being the key element in each one of those stories, you might be expecting a morbid ride, but rest assured, there are quite a few pieces of comedic gold lined inside this skeleton's spine, along with the many that will send a chill down your own.
A renegade is person who lives by their own set of rules. Someone who is not afraid to defy what they, or others may consider normal. With this anthology, we looked for stories that challenged the writers creativity and took risks with the subject matter and/or style. A story that defines the writer as a Renegade of Prose. The Renegades of Prose is a collection of stories from 18 international authors, including Maggie Veness, Jessica Bowden, Catherine A. MacKenzie, DJ Tyrer, Essell Pratt, Lance Hyden, Paul Rhodes, Phil Richardson, Sandi Sonnenfeld, Na'amah Segal, Stephen McQuiggan, Bryn Fortey, Rob Nicholson, Frank Roger, Chris Moylan, Jill Boyles, Mike Sherer, and James Pyne. Each of these writers dared themselves to create a story that allowed them to become a Renegade of Prose. The Renegades have penned stories about a jealous roommate, an exterminator hired to tackle a unique pest, a rapidly spreading skin condition, a corporate bigwig who has been kidnapped, a scribing monk who made too many errors and a memorable night of Trick or Treating. This is a diverse collection of stories full of twists and turns, some may be disturbing and others thought provoking, but the one thing they have in common is they came from the mind of a Renegade.
