The characters of THE ADOLPHOS are a dysfunctional family with both good and bad traits. Some migrate from the Gulf Coast to Texas, Alabama, and New York. Caroline, the matriarch, tries her best to keep family harmony but fails her husband and some of her children. She is an avid letter writer and dreams of voyages and understanding that will never come to her. Her children, Paul, Rachel (pronounced 'Rashell'), Allette, and Tudu are the children of Caroline and her French born bastard gutter rat, Jean.
