Franz Dingelstedt (1814-1881) war ein deutscher Dichter, Journalist und Theaterintendant. Er gilt als bedeutender Theaterleiter des späten 19. Jahrhunderts; zuletzt war er Direktor des Wiener Burgtheaters. Berühmt wurde er durch das von ihm gedichtete Weserlied, das von Gustav Pressel vertont wurde. Sein bekanntestes literarisches Werk sind die Lieder eines kosmopolitischen Nachtwächters. Aus dem Buch: "Der Wunsch des getreuen Kammerdieners sollte leiden nicht in Erfüllung gehen. Graf Wallenberg hatte eine nichts weniger als gute Nacht, vielmehr, gleich der vorigen, eine zweite schlaflose. Schauderhafte Träume störten seinen späten, unerquicklichen Schlummer. Er sah sich auf dem Theater, genötigt, vor einem zahlreichen Publikum, dessen tausend Augen alle auf ihn gerichtet waren, die Partie des Theseus zu spielen und zu singen. Der Chor, der ihn umringte, bestand aus lauter Mitgliedern des corps diplomatique in ihren Galauniformen; der Oberpriester am Opferaltar war, trotz der weißen Perücke und dem Umhängebart, unverkennbar der Minister des Hauses und der auswärtigen Angelegenheiten."
Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais (1732/1799) war ein französischer Unternehmer und Schriftsteller. Er ist vor allem bekannt als der Autor von La Folle Journée ou le Mariage de Figaro "Der tolle Tag oder die Hochzeit des Figaro", einer der meistgespielten französischen Komödien, die schon bald nach ihrer Uraufführung 1784 von Lorenzo Da Ponte und Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart zu der Oper Le nozze di Figaro "Figaros Hochzeit" verarbeitet wurde. "Der tolle Tag oder Figaros Hochzeit" ist ein Theaterstück in fünf Akten. Es konnte nach mehrjähriger Zensur am 27. April 1784 im Pariser Théâtre National de l''Odéon uraufgeführt werden. Zuvor war es lediglich in Privatveranstaltungen zu sehen. Das Stück beginnt am Morgen des Hochzeitstages von Figaro, dem Kammerdiener des Grafen Almaviva, der die Zofe Susanne heiraten möchte. Es endet am Abend desselben Tages. Figaro ahnt nicht, dass auch der Graf die schöne Susanne begehrt und er sich diese mit dem Recht der ersten Nacht, das seine Gemahlin längst abgeschafft hat, zu Willen machen möchte. Von nun an bestimmen allerlei Liebeswirren das Stück. Der Graf setzt alles daran Susanne zu erobern. Seinen Intrigen kommen die Ziele zweier weiterer Akteure, des Arztes Dr. Bartholo und seiner Wirtschafterin Marceline, entgegen, die allerdings ihre ganz eigenen Absichten verfolgen: die ältliche Marceline drängt Figaro, ihr gegenüber ein noch nicht verjährtes Heiratsversprechen einzulösen, Dr. Bartholo will sich an Figaro für dessen Rolle bei der Entführung der jetzigen Gräfin, seines damaligen Mündels "Rosine", rächen.
