¿Heinrich von Ofterdingen" ist die erste von drei selbständigen dramatischen Dichtungen, die unter dem Gesamt-Titel ¿Wartburg" vereinigt sind. Diese Wartburg-Trilogie enthält die drei Dramen ¿Heinrich von Ofterdingen", ¿Die heilige Elisabeth" und ¿Luther auf der Wartburg".Das Stück ¿Heinrich von Ofterdingen" spielt in den 1207 und 1208 u.a. anläßlich des berühmten Sängerkriegs auf der Wartburg zwischen Heinrich von Ofterdingen, Wolfram von Eschenbach und Walther von der Vogelweide.

Nach zwanzig Jahren Abwesenheit wird der schlafende Odysseus von phäakischen Schiffern auf einen Strand seiner Heimatinsel Ithaka gebracht. Kurze Zeit später wacht er auf, allein.
