This book entitled ¿Calcium hydroxide and its role in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics.¿ Calcium hydroxide[Ca(OH)2] has been extensively used in dentistry since 1921 and is considered ¿gold standard¿ as Direct pulp capping and Indirect pulp capping agent. The dissociation of Ca(OH)2 into calcium and hydroxyl ions results in increase in the pH locally causing irritation of the pulp tissue, stimulates repair of dentin by the release of bioactive molecules inducing mineralized tissue formation and acts in the repair process.
