This volume traces the development of the work of the Basle architects Herzog and de Meuron in the first 11 years. Much emphasis is placed on the initial design processes, made tangible through plans and sketches. Finished buildings are presented in great detail.

Since it was set up in 1989 the office of Gigon/ Guyer architects has conceived an impressive series of projects. The most important designs carried out include museums, housing projects, and office buildings. The recently completed Prime Tower and its annex buildings on the Maag site in Zurich have been internationally acclaimed.
