Sondern die Gelegenheit zur gantzen Sache ist folgende: Es hat zum öfftern durch Veranlassung guter Freunde sich gefüget/ daß er auff ihr Erinnern über diese und jene Sinn- oder andere Bilder einige kurtze Verse entwerffen müssen. Nicht selten hat ihn selber diese und jene Begebenheit oder eigne Angelegenheit zu dem Außdruck seiner Betrachtungen gebracht. Bißweilen ist ihm unvermuthet etwa eine kurtze Aria oder ein ander Lied in die Feder oder nur in die Schreib-Tafel geflossen/ wenn er auff dem Lande spatzieren gangen/ und in Gott ruhig und frölich gewesen/ oder wenn sich auch sonst ein Antrieb zum Lobe Gottes ereignet hat. Das meiste/ ja fast alles ist unter andern häuffigen, und zwar ernsthafften Verrichtungen gleichsam gebohren/ und kan dahero dem Leser keine grosse Künste versprechen. So wird er auch viel weniger hochtrabende Worte/ weit gesuchte verblümte Redens-Arten/oder sonsten viel affectirte Manieren drinnen finden. Ja man hat manchmal gemeint das Recht zu haben/daß man nicht allezeit denen gemeinen Kunst-Regeln unterworffen wäre/ wo die Sache selbst und der Nachdruck etwas besonders erforderte. Man war gemeiniglich vergnügt/ wann ein Verß von sich selber ungezwungen dahin floß/ daß es keines Flickens und Kopffbrechens bedurffte; angesehen die Verständigen allezeit die gezwungene Reimerey unn das affectirte großsprecherische Phantasieren einiger Gern- Poeten in gleichem oder keinem Werth gehalten haben.
