Hermann Reckendorf war Orientalist, Arabist, Literaturwissenschaftler und Professor an der Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg und der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg. Das vorliegende Buch ist ein Nachdruck der Originalausgabe von 1921. Zum Inhalt: Reckendorf selbst sagte über sein Buch: "Vorliegende Syntax unterscheidet sich sowohl hinsichtlich der Behandlungsweise als des Belegstoffs von meinem Buche Die syntakt. Verhältnisse des Arabischen, sodaß sich also die beiden Werke einander ergänzen. Die Darstellung der Bedeutung der Wortformen und der Kategorien an und für sich ist eigentlich nicht Sache der Syntax, die es nur mit Beziehungen der Wörter zu tun hat. Indes ist aus praktischen Gründen ab und zu von diesem Grundsatze abgewichen, da man herkömmlicherweise z. B. die Lehre von der Bedeutung der Tempora und Modi in der Syntax sucht. Was die Auswahl der vollständig ausgeschriebenen und übersetzten Belege anlangt, so sind im allgemeinen Belege aus solchen Texten bevorzugt, zu denen keine gedruckte Übersetzung vorliegt. Das Kap. über die Präpositionen ist verhältnismäßig ausführlich behandelt und reich mit Belegen bedacht. Die Präpositionen bilden aber auch einen der lehrreichsten Gegenstände der Syntax, weil sie, wenn man das Problem in der zweckmäßigen Weise anfaßt, ein helles Licht auf andere syntakt. Verhältnisse fallen lassen." This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself.
