In this satirical, parodic portrait of 21st century existential schizophrenia (caused, of course, by excessive exposure to media and pop-subculture), you, brave reader, will find action, thrills, misplaced romance, gratuitous violence and language, car chases, metaphysical ennui, dei-ex-machina (plural!), sociopolitical commentary, stereotyping, even fourth-wall-breaking terrors from the Id...the author even breaks the one rule to writing a good novel that most postmodernists haven't even dared to break--and does so repeatedly, just for a laugh. The only thing left out was the kitchen sink...and that was just an oversight.

Angus Anderson--an aging GenXer and narcissistic real-estate agent--wants to be important. Specifically, he wants to be an important writer, but he knows very little about it. BILGE PUMP OF A TURGID MIND is a compilation of 67 poems by up-and-coming indie author Ian McLeod (CURRENTLY UNTITLED). The poems within are intelligent, witty, poignant, morbid, and occasionally worth reading. His form is mostly free verse with sight-rhyme and alliteration, as Ian claims to be "terrible at metered poetry...except limericks, but that's a different book to write." Ian McLeod is heavily influenced by the Modernists, but with enough kick to keep a contemporary reader amused, if not entertained.

In this book, I have attempted to not only document my Scottish heritage but also record some of the family stories that I have uncovered during my research. Although the relevant facts, dates and places resulting from research are all necessary components of ancestral history, it's the stories that provide a real insight into our ancestral past.Of course, this type of project is never complete because there are always mysteries to solve, leads to follow and gaps to fill.
