The report shows that important research has been undertaken on the transnational crime aspects of migrant smuggling, including on routes, smuggling organizations (such as criminal networking and facilitation), smuggler profiles and fees/payment.

This report is the ninth in the world migration report series which is designed as a substantive contribution to increasing the understanding of current and strategic migration issues throughout the world. It presents key data and information on migration as well as thematic chapters on highly topical migration issues.

The task of formulating workable approaches to the management of international migration remains a formidable challenge or the community. This title identifies policy options that might contribute to the development of broad and coherent strategies to match demand for migrant workers with supply in safe, humane and orderly ways.

Millions of children are on the move, both within and between countries, with or without their parents. The conditions under which movement takes place are often treacherous, putting migrant children, especially unaccompanied and separated children, at an increased risk of economic or sexual exploitation, abuse, neglect and violence. Policy responses to protect and support these migrant children are often fragmented and inconsistent and while children on the move have become a recognised part of today's global and mixed migration flows they are still largely invisible in debates on both child protection and migration.

Presents the comparative results of a research project on the role of migrants in the workforce of caregivers for the elderly in the UK, Ireland, Canada and the US. The purpose of the study is to examine the contextual factors influencing current and future demand for care workers in an ageing society; the experiences of migrant workers; the implications of the employment of migrant workers in the care of older people; and the implications of these findings for the future care of older people and for migration policy and practice.
