Completely updated in 2018! Now in its third edition, The Solicitor General's Style Guide contains the manual used by the Office of the Solicitor General in preparing briefs to be filed in the Supreme Court. It contains three separate guides: Office of the Solicitor General Citation Manual, Office of the Solicitor General Supplement to the Supreme Court Rules, and Office of the Solicitor General Writing Preferences. Supreme Court Justice Scalia and legal writing guru Bryan Garner have extolled the Solicitor General's briefs as models for other lawyers to follow. Now the citation and style secrets behind those briefs are available to lawyers and fans of the Solicitor General and the Supreme Court. The Third Edition contains new information or preferences for 38 rules, new examples for 25 rules, and 14 never-before-seen rules.
Posner Thoughts, Annotated presents a satirical take on the influential, outspoken, and often controversial Judge Richard A. Posner. Nearly 36 years a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, Judge Posner is known for his keen analysis, his wit, his sharp exchanges with advocates, and his extraordinary productivity, both on and off the bench. He has written more than 3,300 published judicial opinions, dozens of books, and countless articles on a wide variety of topics, earning him a cult following of lawyers and nonlawyers alike. @Posner_Thoughts is an anonymous Twitter account inspired by Judge Posner which purports to tweet Judge Posner's thoughts within Twitter's 140-character limit. Posner himself admits to reading the account with "great enjoyment," finding it "extremely funny." Posner also cited the account in his most recent book, remarking: "I have a flippant side, most recently exhibited in @Posner_Thoughts." Posner Thoughts, Annotated is best described as a Rosetta Stone for @Posner_Thoughts. It matches tweets from the account with actual quotes from Judge Posner. It contains an introduction from Posner himself, in which he relates that most of the thoughts "either are or should be authentic because they are very funny and I am very funny!"
