UPDATED to include over 2 dozen photographs! Here is the dramatic chronicle of the men and women who comprise the Jungle Aviation and Radio Service (JAARS), the flying arm of the famous Wycliffe Bible Translators. Viewed from a distance theirs is a life of color and adventure, but however dramatic and colorful the job of these pilots may seem, it is basically a rigorous, lonely, and thankless task. Most of the JAARS personnel could command handsome salaries among American and European commercial airlines; all of them could thrive as leaders in the renewal sweeping the civilized Western World and draw large crowds to hear their testimonies. But these are rugged people who have heard the call of Christ to come away from the glory of the crowds and comfortable living to serve naked aborigines and headhunters whose languages have never been committed to writing. Sometimes their only thanks is a brandished spear. But sometimes, far above the clouds, they do enjoy the momentary glory of looking down at the shadow their little crafts cast on the cloud-tops. Around that shadow a peculiar dispersion of the sun's rays creates a corona of light. Pilots have long called that corona "the glory" and when they finally have to descend beneath the clouds, they fly "into the glory." At the moment the plane and shadow converge at the cloud there is a virtual explosion of light. And in a special sense for the pilots of JAARS they do fly into the glory - the glory of serving the least of all the peoples of the earth in obedience to Jesus Christ.
God has many ways of teaching us. Jesus taught by example. Men looked at how He lived, and decided to walk that way also. He also taught by precept, speaking directly to people, in a way we might call teaching today. But his favorite way of teaching was through the use of the parable. He loved to tell stories -- stories with spiritual meanings. "In the fall of 1987," Jamie said, "I visited Israel with a camera crew. We had obtained permission from the Israeli government to set up cameras at ten of the sites where Jesus told his best-known parables. There I was to re-tell, on location, these marvelous stories. I had long suspected Jesus used visual objects when telling His parables. When He told the story of the Good Shepherd, He pointed to a shepherd with his flock of sheep in a nearby pasture. When He told the parable of the sower and the seed, He was probably sitting on a rock beside a field where a farmer was sowing his spring seed. Jesus was a man of the earth, and He used earthly things to convey spiritual truth." In this book, Jamie tells of 10 of Jesus' most notable parables and relates them to our lives today. It's a wonderful book, full of truth and wisdom.
God has many ways of teaching us. Jesus taught by example. Men looked at how He lived, and decided to walk that way also. He also taught by precept, speaking directly to people. But His favorite way of teaching was through the use of the parable. He loved to tell with spiritual meaning. Jesus was a master storyteller. Unlike most storytellers, however, He did not tell his stories to entertain. He told stories to teach. He wanted His listeners to learn about God, about God's Kingdom, about God's Son, and about themselves. The stories He told were filled with humor, common sense, biting satire, and deep spiritual truth. They prodded. They stimulated. They answered questions. They raised questions. But always, they pointed men toward God's highest way for the lives of the listeners. This workbook is designed to be used with the video messages found at www.JamieBuckinghamMinistries.com. Each segment runs about 12 minutes. In this study of 10 parables of Jesus you'll visit the sites where Jesus was when He told His marvelous stories. In one session, you'll stand with me high above the ruins of an ancient inn along the notorious road from Jerusalem to Jericho where a despised Samaritan stopped to render aid to a dying man after the religious people passed him by. You will visit the ancient stone towers in the middle of an olive grove where the father stood and waited for his prodigal son to return home. You will visit a deep wadi where Jesus might have stood as He told the story of the two houses, one built on the sand and the other on the rock. You will also visit the Western Wall where Jesus stood when he told the parable of the two men who went into the Temple to pray. You will meet yourself in one or all of these parables. And hopefully, the person you see will then call out to God for change and growth. Welcome to the wonderful world of the story. Welcome to the wonderful heart of the Storyteller.

Jamie Buckingham's remarkable book on the miracles of Jesus takes us on an exciting adventure as he leads us through the history and culture that surrounded some of Jesus' most notable miracles. If you believe in your head but doubt in your heart that God still works miracles, you will find Jamie's book, "Miracle Power," a great way to take a closer look at the miracles of Jesus -- then and now. Jamie points out that the biblical accounts of these miracles are either lies of the first magnitude or they are literally true. If they are lies and the Bible is false, then Jesus was the biggest con man who ever walked the face of the earth. But if the Bible is true and these miracles really did happen, then the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead can work supernaturally in you, today. This book is a fascinating look at many of Jesus miracles and the compelling stories of what still happens when ordinary men and women of God refuse to place limits on the miracle-working power of our heavenly father. "Anything is possible for the one who believes" Mark 9:23.
Christians are under attack from a deadly but invisible enemy. God has given us orders to be armed for battle in spiritual warfare. As we begin the second millennium since the birth of Jesus, Satan is mounting a massive attack against Christians and the church. As a result there is a great resurgence of interest in spiritual warfare. Christians of all persuasions are realizing they do not have to be pushed around by the devil. Jesus Christ has given us authority -- not only to cast out demons, but to bask in the gates of hell. This workbook accompanies the devotional series Armed for Spiritual Warfare by Jamie Buckingham. The videos are located and can be played for free at www.JamieBuckinghamMinistries.com.
This book of reflections on life was written very early in Jamie Buckingham's career as a writer. The majority of these stories grew out of a series of daily radio commentaries over Station WCRS, Greenwood, South Carolina, when Jamie was a young, but "senior" pastor at the South Main Street Baptist Church from 1959-1966. "After each recording, the manuscripts fell back into my dusty files," he wrote years later. "They would have stayed there forever had it not been for a friend and author, Irene Harrell, from Wilson, North Carolina."This was supposed to have been Jamie's first book, but events overtook its publication, and five other books were published first, including his very first book, Run Baby Run, and other books written for Kathryn Kuhlman, including God Can Do It Again. Some Gall's 67 sharply drawn sketches are not only good reading but thought-provoking as well. Filled with insight, they are prefaced by relevant scripture and conclude with a very personal prayer, reflecting the down-to-earth spirituality of a man who sought God's message in his day-to-day life.Jamie characterized himself as "a rebel, fighting against the sameness and traditionalism of the establishment" for as long as he could remember. He viewed writing as an opportunity to express himself in ways more lasting that preaching three sermons a week, which he continued to do with great enthusiasm until his death in 1992.
