Hebrews chapter 11 lists many of the great heroes of faith, ones who were willing to trust God and step out in faith. God asked Noah to build an ark in the middle of a desert so his family may be spared. God used Abraham, telling him to leave all he knew, to go into a new foreign land to receive his inheritance. By faith, Moses left the comfort of a palace to wander in the desert so God's people may find their way home. This same God of Noah, Abraham, and Moses is calling you to build an ark or leave all you know, in order to receive your inheritance or to lead His people home. From the beginning of time, God has been calling us to commune with Him so He may reveal His beauty to us, so we may reveal His beauty to others. All we must do is be willing to step out of the boat as Peter did (Mt. 14:22-33). This six-week study will challenge you to take that leap of faith and join God on His journey for your life. For He has great and glorious plans for you (Jer. 29:11). All you have to do a take that first step.
"For since the world began, no ear has heard, and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for Him!" (Isa. 64:4). It can be so hard to imagine that there is a God who can right wrongs, fix the broken, and love the unlovable, but there is. Since the beginning of time, God set a plan in motion to do all that and more. Time and time again, God has revealed His redeeming, loving nature to us. This redeeming love is weaved through the fabric of the lives of His people and can be discovered through His story in the Bible. Washed Clean and Virtuous: 6 Week Bible Study tells of the many times throughout the Bible that God called His lost, battered sheep back with Him while pouring His love upon them. There is no valley of darkness so deep or ocean of despair so wide that God cannot rescue us. There is nothing so bad that can be done to us or we can do that can separate us from this love.
The mission of my ministry is to help people to learn to "sit well at The Well." This concept is basically the idea of the significance of receiving the love of Christ in such a way that it restores us and renews us so we then are able to sit with others as they are receiving, being restored and renewed. However, to sit with others, we must first sit. It is in this act of sitting that we find peace. There is a neurological phenomenon of peace, but there is also the neurological phenomenon of anxiety and fear that can sometimes overpower our neurological peace. The act of sitting at the Well is an act of finding that neurological peace. To get that neurological peace that surpasses all understanding one must first find peace with the Lord for it is only the Lord that can settle us from our fears and shame. It is in the act of drawing closer to Him that settles our fears and shame. "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him" (1 Cor. 2:9). You will find in these pages a 30-Day roadmap to restoration and renewal as you sit well at the well and receive from your Beloved.

This manual is meant to help prepare your agency to perform some of the most challenging work: helping people through crisis. Dr. Brooks has worked in the mental health field for over thirty years with a specialty in crisis, and for the last ten years, she has been training counseling students in crisis intervention. Natural disasters, mass shootings, refugee crises, human sex trafficking, etc. show the growing need for individuals to be prepared to sit with others in their suffering. The need is growing, yet the workers are few. Dr. Brooks has recognized that more and more organizations, disciplines, and ministries are doing crisis intervention with little to no knowledge or understanding of the effects that working with people in crisis has on the crisis worker. This manual will help you gain a better understanding of how trauma effects an individual, as well as how working with people in crisis can affect the interventionist. This information can help you work more effectively by training you and your team members in self-sustainment. This Christian perspective of intervention will help you and your agency become more Christ-like in your approach by instilling a confidence and hope in the most horrific of circumstances, while still maintaining your strong faith in the goodness of God. The preventative practices provided in this manual will help prevent burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma for crisis interventionist.
