Hauptkommissar Carsten Solbach und seine Kollegen Heinz-Rüdiger Petersen und Eva Lorenz beginnen mit ihren Ermittlungen, zunächst einmal bei den Angestellten des Krankenhauses. Hier vermuten sie anfangs noch den potentiellen Mörder. Aber plötzlich kommen nun einige außergewöhnliche Lebensumstände dieser Krankenschwester ans Tageslicht, in welche diese verstrickt war. Kommt der Täter vermutlich doch aus ihrem privaten Umfeld ?Dann geschieht ein weiterer Mord an einer Krankenschwester derselben Klinik. Solbach und sein Team stehen nun vor der Aufgabe herauszufinden, ob es zwei unterschiedliche Täter waren oder ob es sich hier um einen Serienmörder handelt, der vielleicht bald sogar noch ein weiteres Mal zuschlagen könnte.
