"When you're kind to people, it's always worth more to them than you think."The delightful tale of A Million Ways to Care begins when twins, Mia and Anthony learnthat a very wealthy individual has given away a million dollars to help fund an Africanhospital. This news really captures the children's imagination, leaving them wishing thatthey were rich enough to be as kind as the multi-millionaire they've just heard about. The only problem is that they only have a dollar between them! The story then follows Mia and Anthony during a typical day, where they learn all aboutthe true meaning of kindness and discover that their small, everyday acts of kindness canhave truly magical effects on those around them. From simple, little actions such as helping their tired mom to offering to help a neighbor toshow her she doesn't have to deal with things on her own, the children's thoughtfulnessbrings joy to others. Throughout the day, they learn over and over again that it's the littlethings that count. People don't need a million dollars; they need to know that other peoplecare about them.As an example of this, the twins show consideration to a new girl who feels out of place ata party. She's new in town, dresses differently and feels awkward in her new environment. When Mia and Anthony show a real interest in her and her culture, she beams withhappiness. The reader sees how this one intervention enriches the little girl's life and, asthe twins travel home afterwards, the realization dawns on them that you don't have to berich to help people: "We can all care about each other, can't we? It doesn't cost anything."As the story continues, the twins learn that it can even be more fun to give than receive asthey choose and wrap Christmas presents and give thank you flowers and the story showshow these simple deeds are infectious as the kindness spreads from person to person. This is the second book in the Ten Hidden Treasures series and takes a similar approach tothe other books in having an engaging story, firmly rooted in the world of home, family, friends and all the things familiar to any child. There is no lecturing the children or tellingthem what they have to do or need to be like; they are simply presented with a lovely storythat shows what happens when children take a positive approach to themselves, theirworld and to the people around them.
"Families always love each other, whatever happens."Fun-loving twins, Anthony and Mia, continue to discover hidden treasures where they least expect them - this time right inside their own home! Who needs pirate treasure maps and dangerous voyages to far flung desert islands? In this third book in the Hidden Treasures series, our two young heroes find something far more valuable - the love that surrounds them every day.The story begins with the twins tearing downstairs, full of excitement about their upcoming school trip to the local museum. Their happiness soon vanishes, however, when their over-excitement leads to their breaking the rules and smashing a valuable vase. They know they are in big trouble and it will get a lot worse if Mom and Dad find out!As most young children would be tempted to do, Anthony and Mia decide that the best course of action is to hide their mistake from Mom and Dad. The truth comes out in the end, though, as it always does and - much to the twins' surprise - that's when things start to get a lot better; not worse.Through the trials and tribulations of a typical day, the twins come to realize that Mom and Dad, their sisters and their older brother are always there for them, no matter what happens. They may get told off by their parents now and then and there aren't many their siblings who don't quarrel occasionally but, when it comes to the crunch, families surround each other with love and make each other's world a richer, safer and happier place to be. "You see," said Mom. "We talk, and we help each other, and we are always, always there for each other." Most importantly, by the end of the story, the twins have learned that happy families don't just happen. It can be easy to take the people we see every day for granted but, with a little effort and understanding, even the smallest members of the team have so much to offer. The twins learn that a simple thank you to Grandma can turn her day into something special; that a smile can heal a hurt; and that sharing a problem can shrink it right down. Our Very Special Family presents the reader with another charming story in The Hidden Treasures series. Once again, the reader will be enchanted by following the adventures of our two loveable young friends. This delightful tale will show the reader just how wonderful it is to be part of a loving family. They will also see that they are an important part of their family and that they can bring happiness to those around them by showing their love in simple, everyday ways and learning to trust the people they share their lives with. Best of all, it does this through engaging the child's imagination as there's no better way to learn important lessons about life than thru that most joyful of occasions - story time with Mom and Dad!
"I''m never brave. I get scared by lots of things... even little creepy crawlies."A Big Brave Heart tells the exciting story of what happens when twins, Mia and Anthony, dress up as superheroes for the day. The brother and sister think they are only play-acting but soon discover that they are real heroes, despite having all the fears and worries of typical young children. The twins'' father presents the pair with a challenge. They have to do one brave thing a day and then write it up in their diaries...What a worry for little Mia and Anthony as they don''t feel brave at all!The pair soon surprise themselves, though, as their diaries start to fill up with all the brave and wonderful things they get up to in just one ordinary school day! They find the courage to overcome their shyness and speak to the lonely new boy who starts at their school; and make a new friend in the process. They go on to stand up to a group of bullies who are upsetting one of their friends; and they are brave enough to recognize when they make mistakes and need to apologize to another friend. As their day progresses, the young twins have more and more opportunities to show their courage and they learn that bravery isn''t about not being afraid; it''s simply about not letting your fears stop you from doing what is right. Once they conquer their fears, the children learn that true courage lies in caring about other people and in being honest. So, you don''t need a fancy costume and X-Ray vision to be a superhero, after all! This is the first book in the Hidden Treasures series. Each book follows Anthony and Mia as they learn important values they will need to take to heart as they grow up. Whether it''s courage, kindness or the importance of family, the reader explores these concepts thru engaging stories set in the midst of a loving family environment. The tales avoid lecturing or preaching to the readers. Rather, these lovely stories make their ideas very real and accessible by placing them firmly in a world that young readers can relate to and can understand. By reading these enchanting tales with their parents, children will learn about important core values and will be keen to emulate their new friends, Mia and Anthony.
This book is about documenting the transformation of the United States under the Obama policies, and the ideological premises of that transformation. The book makes clear that policy considerations under Obama were defined in terms of his ideological disposition instead of what is necessarily in the best interest of the country. His left wing disposition left little room for cost-benefit analysis and for policies emerging from a true national dialogue. Obama Care was made into law without a single Republican vote. Much of the proposed legislations passed by the House of Representative were shelved by the Democrat Senate. Race relations became worse under his administration as he preferred to interfere in every case involving African- Americans while ignoring compelling facts. His decision on the Keystone Pipeline is illustrative of an appeasement policy for the left instead of one that produces jobs and energy independence for the United States. The book synthesizes the ideological foundation of numerous policies that were driven by President Obama''s extreme liberalism in order to keep the base of the Democratic Party and major liberal donors in toe. Many of his policy choices were achieved by extraconstitutional methods such as Executive Orders and congressional paralysis instituted by Harry Reid. Meanwhile, the ranks of the poor, the underemployed, the too-discouraged to seek employment and those receiving food stamps rose at historical levels. Despite the most optimistic promises President Obama made, the US recovery continued anemic, The book will provoke much discussion, and perhaps strong disagreements and perhaps applause. It should, therefore, contribute to the vibrancy of our democracy and to the solidity of our constitution.
