Reichardt's fortunes rose and fell all within his own lifetime but after a difficult early education he was commonly accepted as gifted composer with a talent for the lyric style. Astyle he was to cultivate in over 1,500 songs. A casual proponent of the 'Sturm und Drang' movement this Grande Sonate for piano hails from the closing years of his life and exemplifies the lightness of touch of a mature composer in his prime.---Reichardts Vermögensverhältnisse waren zeit seines Lebens starken Schwankungen unterworfen. Nach diversen Schwierigkeiten eine adäquate Schulausbildung zu erhalten, gelang es ihm schliesslich, als begabter Komponist mit einem Talent für den lyrischen Stil akzeptiert zu werden, einem Stil, den er in über 1.500 Liedern kultivieren würde. Als eher lässige Vertreterin der Sturm und Drang - Bewegung ist diese 'Grande Sonate für Klavier' ein Gruss aus den letzten Jahren seines Lebens und zeigt in beispielhafter Weise die Leichtigkeit des Anschlages eines reifen Komponisten in seinen besten Jahren.
