Polar bears are very smart. In fact, a research scientist claimed that polar bears are every bit as smart as apes. A hungry polar bear was observed smashing open blocks of ice to get to the fish that were frozen inside. These bear can be playful as well. Some bears were observed stacked up plastic pipes, just to knock them all down again. To help the polar bear survive in the Arctic, they need to rely on their senses. They are charming, warm, tolerant, versatile, intelligent and very friendly. A large size dog breed, they were originally bred as gun dogs and used during hunting to help "retrieve" game like ducks and waterfowl. As the name indicates, "retrievers" were used to "retrieve" things but their athletic skills go beyond hunting. For one thing, Retrievers love the water. It is almost instinctive to them and they will not hesitate to get wet. They thrive on activities that give them something to do. It can be a nice game of fetch, some fun at the beach, running around the yard or racing across an open field. Although bred as a part of working dogs, Golden retrievers are one of the top ten most popular dog breeds today. They are also well known for their participation in conformation shows. Retrievers love to learn new things, so training your dog to accept new commands is a breeze! When it comes to relationships, the Retriever's gentle and patient demeanor makes them an excellent companion for children, and their affectionate nature will endear them to the entire family. The combination of rabbits and carrots is about as taken for granted as is ham and eggs, and salt and pepper. Carrots were grown in China and in Afghanistan more than 1100 years ago. China is of course the largest grower and exporter of carrots in the world today. The different varieties are yellow, purple, white and red, even though we are so used to seeing orange carrots peeping out of the mouth of Bugs as Doc stalks him . If the carrot was white or yellowish in color, we would think he was munching a horseradish... Carrots belong to the same family, as other herbs like Parsley, cumin, dill and fennel. In fact, in most countries, the carrot greens are not discarded, but they are dried and used as herbs in cooking. So the next time you decide to harvest carrots, you do not throw away the tops. Instead, dry them, and try them out as dried herbs sprinkled on your soups. 77% of the carrot taproot is made up of Beta carotene. Apart from that, It Is Rich in Vitamin A. Are carrots really good for eyesight? When I heard a friend talking to her child to eat more carrots, because that would improve his eyesight, I thought that was a really good psychological ploy to get him to eat vegetables. This has a basis on a historical fact, where the British use this psychological ploy as propaganda. Carrots were not rationed during the second world war. British technology had discovered nighttime radar, which allowed the RAF pilots to see enemy planes in the dark. So, they could attack the enemy planes. The British propaganda machine made up a story, that it was the increased use of carrots in the pilots' diet, which improved their vision, including night vision. This was accepted by the Germans, who already had some ancient traditional beliefs, saying that carrots improved eyesight. And so we children, including Dennis the Menace have to eat carrots whether we like them or not since that is what parents believe.
Table of Contents Getting Started Chapter # 1: Introduction Chapter # 2: Benefits of Strength Training Chapter # 3: Myths Designing Strength Training Programs Programs for Women Chapter # 1: Circuit Training Chapter # 2: Freestyle Training Chapter # 3: Non-traditional Routines Conclusion Author Bio References Publisher Introduction Normally, women aren't really that turned on with the idea of weight or strength training exercises. A number of myths and misconceptions are responsible for this idea where the most profound one is the myth of getting bigger and masculine. Due to this and many other misconceptions, women lean towards aerobic programs and prefer them over strength training. But in the last few years, with the help of promising new research, women are becoming more excited about strength training programs. This book does the job of educating individuals and clearing their concerns about the strength training regimen for weight loss. Physiologically talking, women and men are the same; they have the same muscle tissue innervation, fiber distribution and responsiveness to strength based exercises, but there is a distinct difference when it comes to the quantity and density of distribution of muscle fibers. Females have more body fat, less muscle mass, lighter bones and shorter heights when compared to men, generally. They also tend to have broader hips compared to their shoulders and waists whereas men tend to have broader shoulders compared to their hips. This tends to give men a mechanical advantage in the upper portion. Moreover, as women have more weight in their lower bodies, they tend to have a lower center of mass and even though a women's strength is about 2/3rd that of a man, her lower part is as powerful as a man. Some studies have even stated that women have morelower body strength than their masculine counterparts. But all this put aside, there is no difference when it comes to cross-section muscle strength. The greatest region of dissimilarity between men and women is their hormonal quantities, with women having almost 20 times less testosterone than men. They also show a lesser reaction with respect to testosterone training protocols. Alongside testosterone, growth hormone concentrations are another point of dissimilarity;this hormone is for hypertrophy as well as protein synthesis. Women tend to have a higher concentration of this hormone during their menstrual cycle. High intensity exercises have an equal effect on both men and women when it comes to increase in growth hormones, but the amount of testosterone remains the same. This explains why women reach a bottle neck in hypertrophy.

The ears are incredible organs that allow a person to hear sounds; many times the organs are compared to radio dishes responsible for catching radio-waves and just like a radio-set, they too can sometimes become damaged. One of the problems that can develop in the ears is tinnitus. Simply put, it is a condition in which the ear starts to listen to ringing, buzzing, and other meaningless noises. It is not dangerous nor a life-threatening condition, but with the passage of time the person will not get used to it but rather get annoyed by it. Moreover, untreated cases can cause damage to cognitive ability and increase restlessness in a person, turning his/her life into misery. Tinnitus can be improved through treatment, both artificially and naturally. This book deals with the natural treatment of tinnitus, through proper diet, to be exact. Furthermore, you will get to know about the mechanism behind hearing, the types of tinnitus, how it gets diagnosed, and much more. Stay tuned and keep reading.

You may have heard of dried flowers, dried herbs, dried seeds, bark, roots, and even potpourri. The only reason why I would want to live in the age of Cleopatra is that the ancient Egyptians knew all about a flower preservation method with which flowers kept their original color, shape, and looks for more than 6 months after they had been cut. Cleopatra's rooms were full of these flowers. Unfortunately, we have lost this method of preserving flowers, with the burning of the library at Alexandria. However, even up to 1638, Signor Ferrari living in Siena - Italy - described how flowers could be preserved and kept everlasting and alive. Nevertheless, the flowers that we dry today do not have their original color not do they have the rich feel of a thing alive. What we have is something mummified because it has been dried in sand and silica gel. When I was a child, I asked my science teacher to give me a little bit of silica gel because I wanted to preserve all the flowers in our garden in all their colors, and that nice gentleman told me that the colors changed and turn brown, when the water content was removed from that particular plant. I believe that was the first disappointment in my young life, because I wanted all of those colors and their shapes to last forever. But, well, that secret has gone with the ancient Egyptians. Nevertheless, today we are drying flowers, through air drying processes, and this book is going to tell you all about how you can create things of beauty from dried flowers, and anything natural, which you can dry and turn into a thing of beauty and a joy forever.

No stress, no tension, aaah, this is the life! Stress has always been an important part and parcel of the human condition. That is why the old cliché was coined - All Work and No Play Makes Jack a Dull Boy. That was because man understood that fact that if he did not have any source with which he could relax and unwind, he would soon find himself gloomy, dull, lethargic and absolutely no interest in life, because for him, life would be bound to be full of just hard work and absolutely nothing else for which to look forward, at the end of the day. And that is why he began to look at other options like singing, dancing, drama, painting, art forms in order to relax himself and forget about the stress, worry and tension in his life.

Flamingos are beautiful birds with a dazzling display of pink feathers. Of course pink is not the only color of the Flamingos plumes. The colors can range from red to orange, white and even blue, depending on what they eat! Flamingos live a very social life. They love to have friends and family all around, but not just one or two. Their colony can have hundreds, thousands, even tens of thousands at one time. An East African colony is famous for having more than one million members. Imagine how noisy it can get if they all squawk or honk at once! Do you know how old Flamingos are? How long they have existed? The Smithsonian National Zoo says their ancestry goes back for 30 million years, even more! So they are very ancient birds, and one of the oldest species known to humanity. Happily Flamingos are mostly calm, cool and collected. They love to stretch their long legs and 'wade' along the shore looking for food to eat. Sometimes they dine on shrimp, specifically brine-shrimp which contributes to their exotic pink tone. Even though human development has reduced their habitat to some extent, Flamingos still thrive in the coastal regions of South and Central America including the West Indies, the Galapagos Islands and other areas. Their colorful species are a beautiful part of life's great mosaic of natural wonders.

The history of service animals Guide dogs Hearing dogs Psychiatric service dogs Seizure dogs Emotional support animals Helper monkeys Miniature horses as service animals Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction Service animals are a rare, but important, part of the disabled community. They allow people with disabilities of many different kinds to function normally, or at least independently. There are many kinds of service animals throughout the world, though mostly the dog is used. They range from emotional support animals to seizure dogs to guide miniature horses. Even monkeys have been involved in the service animal world. While there are many countries throughout the world that support the service animals and the people who need them, it is really a more recent thing and a lot of legislation involving them is hotly debated. However, on the whole, service animals perform a great service to the community and their individual owners.

The Science of Living with Tolerance and Trust Table of Contents Introduction Tolerating Weather-Vanes and Stubborn Mindsets Exploring Fresh Opinions Simple Words of Praise Bringing up Children with Trust Tolerating the People around You Happiness means Self-Control Conclusion Introduction Humans are fortunate, because they are spiritually inclined. Nevertheless, we succumb to our human failings, and we need lots of patience to reach that stage of evolution when we can tolerate with patience the people around us. Along with that comes the feeling of trust. Human beings are natural cynics too - our first instinct is always to see the bad in anything we see and hear unless we are so spiritually evolved, that we can immediately look for the good in everything. The science of living takes examples from our own daily lives as well as the lives of people before us who showed qualities of greatness through tolerance, care, sympathy, and a genuine, sincere and honest interest in the beings around them. These are the ones universally loved. They knew everything about the science of living with tolerance and trust. I do not advocate trusting everybody around you blindly. Trust comes only with the passage of time. It is said about a person who is in a position of trust and responsibility that he has to prove his worth every day through his every action, because of a feeling of self-respect and self-worth. Now this can only be done by a very brave woman and man. The Science of Living series are books which give you lessons in living, and how you can be happy while spreading happiness around you. Remember happiness comes from within. Happiness comes in a mind which is at peace and a heart which is at rest. Have faith in you. Have faith in the people around you. Give your support and sympathy to those who deserve it. Live your life so that people miss you and remember you, even after you have gone. I remember the saddest epitaph, I heard about someone I knew. She was a troublesome dove and loved spreading misery all around her. We were just coming back from her funeral, when her own son just brushed his hands together and said, "Well, that is done, thank God. We do not have to have anything to do with her again. Good riddance." The implication of "bad rubbish" was there. That made me feel that perhaps the son was too harsh and intolerant about his mother's failings, but all of us had suffered. So there was this feeling of relief that she had gone, and we would spend the next 40 years clearing up the broken relationships and bitterness she had left her behind her. Now that is not a heritage which you would want to leave behind you, would you? The Science of Living advocates Live and Let Live. If you get some lessons on how you can make your life sublime through this book, I would consider my work well rewarded. There is absolutely no chapter on tolerance or intolerance in matters of religion, caste, Creed, or race in this book. That is because the science of living is universal with the universal truths based on day to day life. All of these other weighty and potentially controversial matters are individual beliefs and I leave it to your conscience to follow your heart, as it thinks right.

There is absolutely no country in the world, except perhaps the Arctic regions, - where man has not reared ducks, chickens and other poultry for table purposes down the centuries. Apart from these being an easy source of eggs to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, you also knew that you would have a tough old rooster for dinner, when a large number of family members popped in unexpectedly, demanding sustenance. We are going to be concentrating on chicken farming, for domestic purposes in this book. You have this dream of raising chickens in your backyard. You are interested in a continuous supply of eggs, and the occasional chicken for your pot of a Sunday. Layers are those chickens, which are normally raised for egg production. The chickens which are going to go straight into the pot are called broilers. Since ancient times, human beings have been raising poultry for domestic purposes and also for marketing purposes. Poultry farming has been a part of rural life in the east down the centuries. All the kitchen waste was fed to the hens. These hens came under the 21st century poultry farming term - free ranging. That meant they were allowed to scratch about in the backyard, getting their fill of insects, worms, green vegetables, organic matter, and was it a wonder that they laid delicious, nutritious, and proteinaceous eggs? Every intelligent householder kept three or four hens depending on the size of his family, and he bought a cock from the market, when he needed chickens. Once a clutch of chickens was hatched, Cocky Locky went into the cook pot. One of the common mistakes made by new poultry farmers is buying a large number of birds, because they are not very clear about whether they want these words for home consumption or they want to trade in the eggs and poultry meat. Around 50 years ago, one of my father's colleagues was facing this problem. He had this huge garden and backyard. He had heard about dad rearing poultry in that garden successfully. So he also wanted to experiment in this exciting new activity which would keep his family well supplied with eggs, and fresh meat. So the next time dad went visiting to his base on a tour, he asked dad the best way to raise birds without too much of a hassle. You are going to get these easy tips in the book.

Potato Salad Potato Salad Dressing Traditional Mayonnaise Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction Knowing what to cook was as important as knowing how to cook, for grandma. She also learned how to make the best of whatever was in front of her, from her grandmother, and so on for centuries. Millenniums ago, her ancestors when gathering in the woods for herbs and vegetables while the menfolk of the family trapped and hunted for meat, game and anything else edible and delicious. It was then grandma's many times great-grandmother's job to make all these ingredients into something delicious and healthy as well as palatable and nourishing. So she used her instinct and her creativity to make delicacies with the ingredients available at hand. Although science-fiction already has stories about scientists making complete little nutritional packages in the shape of pills that are going to take the shape of food in the coming centuries, we are very fortunate that we do not have to face that sort of blandness in our meals today. We still have the good fortune of going to the nearest market or the nearest organic garden and collecting fresh greens, as well as herbs. We have plenty of fresh meat at hand. And best of all, we have all the ingredients to make good wholesome food. We only hope, judging by the pleasure most of us get from eating, the preparation, cooking and serving of this nutritious food is going to be a human activity which is going to be around for a long time. But most of us cannot afford to have some of the more exotic ingredients, of which we dream. Either they are not available to us in our city. Or perhaps they are beyond our budget. Unfortunately, for a large percentage of people all over the world, budget constraints are the reason why they have to make do with makeshift meals instead of eating what nature intended for them - good wholesome, natural ingredients. Grandma was a frugal person. She lived in a time when the dollars earned by grandpa had to be stretched in such a manner that the whole family could be fed and fed well. Times changed and times of prosperity came along, and the eating habits of the whole family changed. Instead of two or three healthy meals in a day, there was food aplenty and the whole family could now afford to eat whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted, and in large quantities. This naturally gave rise to problems including obesity. Also, by not regulating the meal intake as well as the quality of the meals, the quality of the general health of grandma's children deteriorated as time went by. So what is the magic about this fruit, which has made it the cause for sailors and soldiers going out to conquer lands where this plant was a native and grown extensively? Historians say that this plant is native to the Indian subcontinent, and that is why the tropical climate made this plant flourish all over Nepal, Bhutan, India, and surrounding areas. You may find cardamom in the market, packaged in green seed pods, which have to be removed so that you can find aromatic green seeds inside. The shell is papery and is equally aromatic as are the seeds. Guatemala is a top producing country for cardamoms, which are either black or green in color. Both of them belong to the same family, but are two different species. The green cardamoms which you enjoy sprinkling on your desserts, or just enjoy chewing on the seeds to freshen your breath are Elettaria, [this name has been taken from the traditional ancient name for cardamoms -elaichi- taken from the original Sanskrit ellaka] while the dark brown larger pods are Amomum. [This word has been derived from the Greek word amonos Or One without Reproach. Many researchers believe that this is the spice referred to in the New Testament, - a large portion of which was originally written in Greek - and called amomon. In the same way, a priceless spice tablet going back more than 3000 years, and found in recent excavations in Mycenae in ancient palatial archives, talks about this precious spice-amomon. The great Greek botanist Theophrastus described this spice in 450 BCE, but he was not very certain about whether it originally came from Persia or from India. All he knew that it came from the mysterious lands of spices. Surprisingly enough, this family belongs to the same family as the well-known herb- ginger. The family is Gingiferaceae, with different genus and species making up the members of this family.

After all, everybody knows how to cook vegetables. You either steam or bake them or broil them, or fry them, or grill them or eat them raw. Well, luckily for us, we have begun to fully understand the importance of vegetables in our daily diet. Until more recent years, the use of vegetables in our diet was much neglected. Their dietetic importance was insufficiently appreciated. The method of cooking was wasteful and also inferior in many parts of the world when compared to cuisines where vegetable cooking was that part of the daily routine Due to a worldwide appreciation of the importance of vegetables to keep you healthy and strong, more and more people are insisting on home grown vegetables grown the organic way. Greater attention and encouragement is being given to such enterprising gardeners. Such growers for the markets are being human, better facilities. Along with better marketing locations and opportunities, with plenty of their produce being imported, vegetable foods are gaining importance globally as one of the best sources of income. With the growth of vegetarianism as a way of living and of the habit of eating less meat, greater attention is also being given to this branch of cookery. However, many people still think vegetable cooking to be boring, because there is a lack of variety in the food itself. There is plenty of waste before cooking. Leftover vegetables' being put into one dish, cooked in a monotonous method and then served up has given vegetables a bad press throughout the years. In fact, up to 20 years ago, cooks in many parts of the world still cooked vegetables, the traditional way, followed by their ancestors with absolutely no change. That was to dump it in boiling water, and allow it to over boil and become a complete hash and mash. And then it was dished up on a platter in a rather sloppy and sloven fashion, where you could either eat it or leave it. The diners often left it. They survived on the accompanying meat. That is why they decided that meat was a much better lunch and dinner item than vegetables. And they transmitted this attitude on to the people around well as well as to their children. That is why the art of vegetable cookery never got the chance to spread its wings and flourish. Also vegetables in addition to being accompaniments to meat dishes were also served as side dishes or as a separate course altogether in the menu. So if you did not like vegetables, you could skip that particular course. Luckily, now vegetables are being used as a major part of the main meal's course as a contrast to other dishes or as tasty dishes on their own.
