The sensational sequel to The Dimbo Patrol. As reviwed by readers' Favorite, who give this book 5 stars...Lemonlips is a work of fiction in the historical fiction, action, and interpersonal drama sub-genres, and was penned by author John Klawitter. A reworking of a previous novel that explored daily life, love, and culture during the Vietnam War, this is the second book in the series following The Dimbo Patrol. The novel is intended for adult reading audiences and contains the use of explicit language throughout, as well as some scenes of the realistic and visceral experiences of war. Here we continue the primary plot with an ensemble cast of such colorful characters as Beale, Mad Denny, and Larky, discovering more than they ever wished to know about life, death, and themselves.Author John Klawitter presents the Nam Viet Series in a condensed and more palatable format for readers who like to take their military epics bit by bit. I thought that the story split and chapter separation made this volume a compelling piece within itself, choosing good start and endpoints to tell a significant and emotive story with plenty of highs and lows. One of the things which I really enjoyed about the work was the use of the present tense narrative structure, which keeps us grounded in the moment and the sudden twists of fate that can happen during such a tense and tenuous time. I also felt that the dialogue was a particular standout, and gave great emotion and insight into the military culture at the time. Overall, I would certainly recommend Lemonlips and the Nam Viet series for fans of emotive and immersive historical fiction.

In 1964, in an attempt to clean up the mess he has made with his Orange Glory Project, Charley Birch takes an agency operational vehical disguised as a garbage truck and attempts to assassinate one of his subjects, the Zoomin Kate Twillinger. He fails miserable, and yet one of his assistants takes on a life-long vow to kill her. Kate's family home is soon burned to the ground and the locals make her the prime suspect in the deaths of her murderous grandmother and the old woman's lover. Kate is placed in a convent school. Kate, who seems of a dreamy and drifty nature, talks to animals and pictures on the wall, and is quietly considered nuts. She would be committed, but there is a family trust fund that squirts out dividends with a certain regularity, and so she is given special treatment. Ten years later, she seems not to have aged much, and yet has with fingers crossed taken on the vows of a nun and is teaching biology in Southern California. Charley Birch is now dead, but his agency crew is still intent on killing Kate. Kate leaves the protection of the convent, dons a tight red t-shirt that says "Nuns Do It By Habit" and heads for rural Kern County for a substitute teaching job. Here she struggles to understand herself and her strange powers even as she angers a powerful local rancher who seems to run the entire county. Her troubles come to a head as she sleeps with the rancher's son (her student, even though he is in his mid-twenties). The rancher, who has secretly murdered his own wife, dopes and rapes her, and leaves her for dead in one of his remote orchard wells. Now is the time when Kate must find her way or be lost forever.
Clever and energetic Matt Havoc thought he'd seen everything. As long-time assistant to B-movie Hollywood film mogul Vinnie Berger, he's learned to think quick and move fast. But when his quirky old neighbor goes into business with Nigerian scam artists who just may be terrorists, Matt finds himself a player in a deadly plot.
From a rural town in Florida to the NFL Hall of Fame, this title tells the story of Deacon's rise to the top of the heap in the National Football League. It refers to the lightning move popularised by Jones in the early days of the game, when a player could rattle the cage (or at least the helmet) of a blocker by belting him alongside the head.
