In 1999, John and Megan Rock were called to step up their game in lay ministry. What they thought was supposed to be a simple six-month ministry engagement turned into a full-time calling that has lasted ever since. Today, the Rocks serve and minister to dozens of people who live in nursing and adult foster care homes in southeast Michigan. They minister to people who are not able to leave their homes to worship with a local congregation. The people to whom they minister have grown old, become ill, or have never known anything but some form of mental or physical illness and live in a care facility. These men and women are the "forgotten church."

The Decision is a fictional novel set in contemporary Sydney, Australia. The main characters are a successful young gay man named Martin, his parents and his boyfriend. The book explores how each person deals with the life challenges that confront them, and the relationships between them. How will they deal with the unexpected? Each one makes decisions all of which have consequences. The hardest decision of all is made by the main character, Martin, as he struggles with his fears.That decision has the capability of substantially changing his life. His father draws from his own experiences and disappointments to help him come to terms with his son's sexuality and provides some useful insights. His mother has a harder time coming to terms with Martin being gay, and the reasons for that eventually become evident. Meanwhile Martin's boyfriend patiently waits.

The book Building Toys: An Architect's Collection documents over 100 architectural building toys from the author's collection, from the mid-1800s to the present, from the U.S. and abroad. Each toy has an immersive two-page spread celebrating its unique features with photos of packaging graphics, component parts, assembly diagrams, and a built example designed and constructed by the author.
