"Look at Fate," his buddy said, "what part did Fate have in picking a life partner? Did Fate do you kindly, or did it turn out to be an awful practical joke?" That's what 78-year-old retired LAPD cop, Ben Tucker, told his 73-year-old blogger buddy, Charlie North over a beer. Thus, the idea for a blog was born. Charlie had picked the right life partner, a wife of 41 years. But what if Fate had chosen somebody different for him? How would his life be different? Charlie would look up his former girlfriends wherever they may be, imagine how things would have been, and write about it in his blog. He met the first old girlfriend for lunch in LA, and she dumped a bowl of yogurt on his head. Embarrassing, but he got a blog out of it. He got more blogs out of his meetings with his other two old girlfriends. Meetings sans yogurt. Then wham, Charlie finds out somebody had murdered his first girlfriend. Worse, he became a person of interest with LAPD. Somebody then murdered his other two old girlfriends; Charlie became a suspect with Chicago cops and Miami cops. Cornered, Charlie investigates the first murder. He hired a private detective, Reggie Parker, a private detective from Denver, the daughter of a former LAPD friend Ben Tucker. As Charlie digs up more info, he reports in his blogs. The blogs go viral, shaking up the investigations of all three murders. Charlie thinks he has the answers to the killings, and in one blog, he names who he thinks could be the killer in each murder. He promises in his next blog to provide absolute proof of who did all three murders. There's nothing like a rousing finish at a lonely Oregon beach house where everything becomes clear, justice prevails in strange ways with plenty of surprises.
Being old ain't easy, but it's a lot more fun when chasing down a lost fortune. The booty is from the largest bank heist in American history-a $38 million grab 30 years ago-and the Feds recovered none of the loot. The 77-year-old heist leader (think Clint Eastwood) is about to be released after 30-years behind bars, and his gang members are getting knocked off one by one by an unknown killer. A mysterious money launderer hires a stunning Private Investigator to investigate the murders to protect his odd investment. She brings in Charlie North, a retired blogger, to mingle with two of the retired old gang members, hoping a lead to the murders might pop up. As we know, Charlie mingles well as long as there is fast golf and a beer or two. There are surprises, revelations, more murders, and a wild finish at The Salton Sea that you couldn't guess in a million years. This is a fast read. Old guys like things fast. WARNING: Don't buy this book if you feel uncomfortable laughing out loud every so often. If you're looking for a gritty crime thriller, this is NOT that type of book. Seriously, laughing is good. Get it now.
A former boss said to me, "That'll (my idea) will work when pigs fly." The idea did indeed work. And the results were wonderful. Pigs were flying! I didn't wait for the next great idea. I created a process-or a hack-for coming up with timely ideas that make a difference. It's a shortcut to impactful ideas. You can use the hack, too, if you wish.I sat down and wrote a step-by-step how-to on this hack to creating those human-made ideas. To make it more fun, I wrote it in the style of a business fable. You read that right-a fable. It's just a lot more fun divulging my secret this way.It will take you about an hour to read it and fully understand the system. Is it worth it? What's one great idea worth to you? What are a lot of great ideas worth to you? How about a lifetime of breakthrough ideas? You'll find that the ideas you cherish are the 'flying pig ideas.' When your boss says, "That'll work when pigs fly," you'll know you've got a terrific breakthrough idea. So, start the process. Start manufacturing ideas.
