This work is a thorough investigation and comparison of intonational features of two varieties of English: the English spoken by speakers of educated Southern British English and the English spoken by native speakers of Finnish. The investigation is based on a large database and an exceptionally thorough acoustic analysis, and the discussion presents new perspectives on interlanguage intonation. The work also contains a very detailed review of contemporary theories and models of intonation.
